I'm using nero 10 and i'm burning a cdr at 8x on media range but i do have dual layer datawrite discs.
I'm not sure how i burn the .nrg file that i downloaded off vwnavi.
I tried the cdr in my rns but it wouldn't recognize it is there a certain thing you have to do to start the upgrade.

.nrg is a Nero image file.

Try a different disc brand.

By the way do you know if the software on vwnavi is any good i mean the one that is suppose to stop the battery drain
i think it's 2760 but with a few files changed.
And thanks for all the help it is much appreciated  :happy2:

Darren & Carl are the main men for software questions Gary.  :notworthy:

The main guy on vwnavi is Josi. He has been modifying the software. I've used his firmware to upgrade my rns510. The instructions were in the thread you downloaded the software from.

For nrg files, I just double click it (which loads it in nero), burn it at the lowest speed with verification. You should be using CDs for firmware and DVDs for maps.

I managed to sort it in the end  :rolleye: i'm just hoping that this will stop the battery drain until my new gateway arrives fingers crossed.
Just out of interest does josi tweak actually work?

Dunno. I have the L version CAN gateway hence no battery drain issues.

Hi, for me Josi's modified 2760 software works great on my 05 GTI with the original can gateway. I have a RNS 510 B, with no battery drain, V7 maps & 7 digit post code entry.

The modified firmware to stop Battery Drain does work on most cars.

I do know of a few that it doesn't work on and a few that it does have bugs/glitches in them.
