Hi guys my names jack and I'm 21 (today!) I'm a service advisor at Volkswagen in Worcester and a professional car detailer too,
I currently drive a MK3 polo G40 that's running 171.6 bhp and I've had a 1/4 mile time of 13.1 (2nd gear start as traction is a massive issue) I'm finding it hard to live with the G40 so Im going to buy something a little more "day to day"
I drove a mk5 golf gti dsg the other day for the 1st time couldn't really push it as I wasn't traveling far but it felt "strange" if that makes sense? Im toting between a BMW E46M3 or the ED30 insurance will be the killer on the M3 tho so the ED30 might be the choice but it's performance I like, I'd be worried About smashing the BMW tho if I'm honest! Performance wise I don't think there is much between the 2 but I think it's up to me to make my mind up! Any words to help me would be greatly appreciated!
Ps sorry for any spelling mistakes as I'm doing this of a iPhone
Glad to be here
Jack

Hi and welcome.
Hope you have a look at insurance before you buy either car.

Hi and Welcome along :driver:

Hello and welcome. :happy2:
Agree with Stealth, check out insurance first, that might just make your decision for you! :P
The M3 I presume would cost slightly less to buy but running costs would be much higher and not the most practical as a day to day car. They are made to be driven hard, loads of fun when you do but not the best when you just want to doodle along. I thought thought long and hard about buying one but decided against it. Manual was a no-no fir me and SMG came with too many issues. But you gotta love the straight six. Beautiful noise
Btw, you're on a Golf forum, we love the ED30 here

Welcome Jack, I'm from the Worcester area too but use Listers in Evesham (unfortunately for you!).
Go for the Edition 30 - in your line of work it would make sense as I'm sure you would get a few favours/discounts when it comes to servicing and repairs?

Welcome :)

Hi & welcome mate
I have the standard GTI and love it.
Ed 30 would be a brilliant drive, especially after a remap.
As others have mentioned check out the insurance before deciding.
Good luck with the search :happy2:

hi. i bought a steel grey edition 30 about 4 weeks ago....it is amazing...looks amazing and performance is amazing....it drinks petrol though, which is something to take into account, its costing me £60 per week at the moment for petrol!!!
anyway, insurance is expensive...i was getting some ridiculous quotes of £5000. but managed to get admiral to insure me for £1200. it will prob be more for you as you are below 25.
hope that helps

I'm going with admiral! Try multi car! My dad with his impreza my mum with her Honda (both max no claims, dad 3 points) I'm 21 and have 1 years no claims and with my mum and girlfriend on the policy it's 1039.00 a year! That's me 21 my girlfriend 21 with 1 crash (no her fault,3 years no claims) me as tha main driver mum and mrs as named, I'm nothing to do with impreza tho, my mums is about 170.00 my dada is about 425.00 so I don't think it's a bad deall,
If you dont want a multi car quote then call bell........2079.00 when everyone elses wants around 6k :stupid:
I'll post some pics of G40 in the morning
