Hi,
I'm about to buy a RNS510, as my car is a Jan 2007 build I'm planning to stick with the version B, so that I don't have to worry about the CAN BUS upgrade.
However I'm not sure how this will effect the following
1. I have a factory Fit iPod connection in the armrest
2. I have a parrot car kit installed
3. Will I need to get the car coded?
any advice greatfully recieved, including (has anyone used the ebay sellers from Lifunania)

Hi Mistry,
Not sure about the parrott compatibility, but I have just bought a B unit from Nick on the R32OC whose service was top class:
http://www.r32oc.com/sale/26878-rns-510-ver-c-latest-led-screen-2010-edition.html
The unit was in as-new condition, with video in motion activated, and I have no battery drain on my 07 GTI. You will need to code it if you have a highline display, but if midline it is plug and play (as long as you get an aeriel adapter). You may need to change a pin over on the rear connector to get the ipod working correctly, but this is really easy:
http://www.r32oc.com/tutorials-guides/18955-rns-510-mfd-install-how-guide-inc-pin-swap.html
I would personally avoid buying one from Lithuania.....
Hope that helps

Nice one Andrew, I think I'll give him a shout.
I do have the highline display so will need that coding, does anyone here do it, or is it best to go to the dealer?

Regarding the coding look in the VCDS section there is a directory of members and there locations that can do this for you ;)
Secondly the parrot kit, If it was professionally installed then you shouldn't need to worry, I just fitted and RNS 310 and have a parrot kit installed and I just unplugged the back of my old HU and plugged it into the 310 and the parrot still works, it's only tapped into the speakers and the 12v power sho shouldn't of messed with the original rear block.
Hope this helps!

Where about's are you Mistry? I have a B version in stock that would be perfect for you car, If your not far I can also fit and code with also doing the change to get your ipod/cd changer working £500 all in.

I have a Parrot CK3000 evolution fitted to the car using a special CAN harness (so that it uses the steering wheel phone buttons). The only thing I needed to do going from my old MFD2 to the RNS510 was move the mute pin in the harness. They are in different positions for 1st and 2/3rd generation units. It's a 5 minute job and my parrot works perfectly.
Ps you could do worse than get the unit from Darren, as in the extremely rare case that it develops a problem, Darren won't leave you high and dry, and no dealing with Lithuanian sellers on flea bay

Hi Darren,
I'm in Bristol, any good for you? and how much would you charge to fit and code if I sourced one seperately.
