My ED30 hasn't been used much since its last service in march 2010 it had done 15048.(its only done 16800 now) the previous service in feb 2009 mileage was 12257 and in june 2008 it had done 7106
So my question is does it need a service in march 2011 as it is NOT on long life services ? I would say yes.
I assume then that VW Dealer will tell me it needs the Cam Belt doing..........with such low mileage does it really need doing?
Also the bug that is on the car in the steering wheel control module 1K0-953-549-BC , the one that stops Cruise Control working when it is added , should i complain and ask vw to replace it......it is a defect from vw? I'm saying i want it changed for free.

Hi Richard
Yes, I would agree that it needs a service. You could get away with the cambelt for another year, but it should be inspected.
the dealer wouldn't be intrested in the steering control module, if you want to complain go directly to VW. I doubt they would be interested either and probably wouldn't even know about the issue with it.

Well hopefully by then we will have sorted the problem! Going to do that boot pop upgrade before you come back so you can also vagcom my key to make it work :happy2:

Hi
Do you need the part numbers for that?
I will sort the coding to do that, and I think your controller also supports Rain Closing. so can give that a go too.

Servicing is time based uswel. The fluids can degrade over time etc.

I got the part numbers off here.....will try to get them at TPS in Ipswich save going to several places as i think someone else said they got all parts from TPS. Do they deal direct with Public?

I suppose one way of getting around the cruise control bug, is book it in to VW to get it done (£150 flat charge to fit cruise control at most VW dealers).
Let them try... Once they can't get it working, explain to them you've read up about it (after the first time they tell you they can't do it!) and then ask for the SCM to be changed as you were quoted a price for cruise to be fitted and your friend has an ED30 with cruise fitted etc etc.
It will probably work.

The Stalk is already fitted, and paid for.
The £150 price was a special offer price, I think it is nearly £200 now.
Also if they can't get it working they would put the old stalk back and wouldn't charge you.
