Title: New Focus ST
Post by: andrewparker on January 10, 2011, 09:17:01 pm
Anyone else seen it? Been following Harry Metcalfe's Twitter stream and he has just posted a few shots from the Detroit show.

My word it's ugly!

Maybe if the lower grille was a bit smaller and less sad it might be a goer but as it stands I'm out.

It will probably be a decent drive though when all said and done.

No doubt, and I bet it will be far more powerful than a standard GTI.

It can't be as bad as it looks in those pics, it's gotta be better in real life hasn't it ?, perhaps a proper colour will help

The only OK one is the black one. That's only because it's harder to see the massive open-mouth grille!

Just think what you could catch in that grill if you removed it...

Dont cars now have to have these high flat front ends - something to do with pedestrian safety.

Hmm, a few funny fussy touches but I think it might look a bit better in the metal? I reckon the 3 door will be a bit more handsome.

Seen worse, but really don't like the rear light clusters. Look like they have been whiz-canned by a chav..
One thing that annoys me is that once the front number plate is attached it makes it look worse. Something a lot of manufacturers seem to not show when introducing a new model at motor shows, press shots etc..

Odd choice, unless it's not going to be a 3door Focus and more a Focus based semi-coupe with a different name?

Oh, and yes Ben, that plate looks frigging hilarious... douchebags!!

There is talk of a coupe, but only in Auto Excess i.e. fantasy photoshop.

....Not if the Ford RS is anything to go by. Like driving a small van, styled like a cross-channel ferryboat. Fast, but.... No thank you.

behave.  you might sit up high but the standard RS is as good, maybe even better than a pretty heavily modded Mk5 platform motor  RR you must almost be the ultimate VAG fan boy

....I'm more of a German car fan than just VAG. Whether it's "better" than my modified Mk5 is very subjective and certainly not my view of the Ford RS - I simply didn't enjoy it enough to even consider buying one. It's fast but that's all. The only Fords which have ever excited me are the American V-engine'd ones and even then, Chevvy's are preferable.

I just don't like Ford styling - IMO it looks cheap and plastic but not plastic in a nice way. Fortunately we all like different things. (I prefer Seats to Skodas too).  :happy2:
