I see you can get these at just over £20k now and is a hell of a lot of car for the money.
Anyone had a go in one or know anyone who has owned one? V8 414bhp are they?
-
ive been tempted for a while, do i buy an rs4 or another house! :signLOL:
tax, service and fuel costs will be ALOT of money!!

This!
You have the added RS tax whenever you visit a stealer (This is basically a 10x multiplier on the price of any standard part lol)
Having had an RS4 previously, buying one is not the issue, its the running costs associated with it, but if you go in with your eyes open then its fine, just dont go thinking oh its affordable to buy now cos thats not even half the story!
-
i was thinking that i guess the tax is £400-500 pa and your looking at around 16mpg round town? i dont do a great deal of mileage as i live 3 miles from work but i still think costs would be scary. do they make them up to an 08 reg - might have another gander in 18 months when they are sub 20k for a good one...
-
Just make sure there is an extended warranty in place. I would be very tempted too if i could afford it.
-
Ive been around Castle Combe track in one! Amazing car! :happy2:
-
.
Sublime! A soundtrack to die for, especially if Milltek, ride feels harsh on some UK roads, but oh so very very very thirsty! Prepare yourself for well under 20 mpg when you want to enjoy yourself. A future classic.

A stage 2+ edition 30 is faster.
I've beaten one down the 1/4 mile strip and Sunglasses Ron beat one too on the road....but the less mentioned about that, the better :scared:
-
^^^^
Indeed a highly modified Ed30 may be faster but to be fair, the RS4 offers a limo rather than a hatchback and much as I love the sound of a 4-pot GTI with aftermarket exhaust it simply doesn't hold a candle to the V8 of the RS4 - It's like chalk and cheese.
Personally I have no use or wish for a saloon car but the RS4 is one of the best of them imo.

really - can you give us more info on both stories? intrigued... i guess the kerb weight of the rs4 must be a lot more than the ed30 which wont help it in a sprint in the dry
-
mine took out an rs6 at santa pod :innocent:
don't underestimate the power of stage 2+

The RS4 has quattro. But quite honestly, I see some willy waving - Not a pretty sight
FYI, Sunglasses Ron got a 15 month ban and it was on TV. Am glad to say it hasn't put him off being an enthusiast.
-
couldnt care less about an ed30 beating an RS4 because its still a 2.0 Golf(impressive ill give you that) id still have the RS5 for all the reasons RR mentioned earlier. The Q is would you go BMW or Audi. i think the BMW would be a better choice for costs

Ive been in a few now most recently an RS4 cab with miltec and the first one was a saloon and was fast but I wouldn't say extreme fast, bit like a bigger R32
For the price you can pick an E60 M5 up for these days I know which one I would go for :happy2: The M5 averages around £22k now

This is exactly what I describe the RS4 as. A bigger, quicker and more powerful r32.
It drinks petrol, sounds the nuts, but isnt as quick as people think.
Infact a stage 1 manual k04 keeps up with it.
The k1 was/is quicker and The TTRS absolutely destroys it. I have a video, but I dont wanna go there, but everyone who I show it to is amazed. Its like when a GTI runs against a 1.6, that big a difference.
Anyway its a really really good all round car and I really do like it, I would have one in avant form for the missus to do the school run in etc

Buy the old rs4! Its alot qucker than the new one and can get them for a Good price! Mmmmmm some twin turbo power! I know a guy who had the old one, and now hes got the new one and he wants his old one back!
-
buy an old and you'll have stage 1 octavia vRS chasing you a$$ around trackdays and the RS4 was fully tuned and on R888s :surprised:
or is this the older one again?
-
Also if you are going to buy one make sure you check all recalls have been carried out by main dealers and, that the shocks aren't leaking as if they aren't covered under warranty they're bloody expensive to replace!
I see them come in everyday at work and if not looked after bloody expensive to repair!

Except that's an S4 Sy

Best car Ive owned. Averaged 16mpg over 7000 miles/6 months. An absolute monster out of the box, but expensive - A full set of front and rear brakes, are £1600 ish retail, tyres are £800-£1000, however it is all very worth it. Phenomenal car, if you haven't driven one, try it, you wont be disappointed. As other have said make sure its got a good warranty.
I would ignore what everyone is saying about other cars faster, who cares!, its an RS4, and these other cars are modded.
I also had a resonated Milltek, what a noise.
Had I of not needed the money I would still own mine now.
Do it, you will love it :happy2:

i blame my west country origins.

I doubt most cars will keep up with my mate Steve's RS4 B5, fair few argument on RS246 regards the power but in short its pushing 750bhp with 250bhp electronically controlled nitros :scared: I drove it before the nos and only 650bhp and by heck it was extremely fast :driver:
Ill try and get some pics of it and see if he's still on RS246, this is the thread
