Title: My car feels too slow, ideas?
Post by: sharpey99 on January 16, 2011, 04:24:30 pm
Hi all,

Ok so my situation is had my car for about a year, after a while i started to notice occasionally the car wouldnt accelerate as a 2litre turbo car should. So i did a bit of research and found out about the diverter valve so I got myself a new one and fitted it about six months ago but the car still wont go as it should all the time. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesnt.

What really annoyed me last night was as I was coming home, going up a hill in 5th around 60mph, the car wouldnt pick up speed and I had a old van, yes a VAN, on my arse all the way up. And with my foot to the floor it was even losing speed. As a 21 year old with a powerful car I am paying a lot of money on insurance but not getting the speed. Does anyone know what the problem could be and what i could do to solve it.

BTW if it helps the car is a 55 plate, around 100,800 miles, full vw service history, last serviced in november, completly standard.

Thanks for any help.

Rich

Probably worth seeing if you can get some diagnostics done.  Also what DV did you fit, was it the latest one or one with the Neoprene.

as stu says you need someone with some decent GTI knowledge to give the car the once over to check things like boost etc  :happy2:
has the car got the original turbo? (worst case scenario you may have a crack or a wastegate issue)
more likely something simple is wrong and you just arent boosting at all  :happy2:
good luck

It was the revision D valve, the piston one. And yeah its the standard turbo.

What sort of places do diagnostics, do you know if there is anyone on here that might beable to do it?

thanks again

where do you live? (roughly)
are you willing to travel further afield for a known specialist?

I live in Grantham, lincolnshire. I wouldnt mind traveling within reason. Dont think at this stage I would want to travel more than an hour.

Give Andy a ring  @ http://www.lincoln-vw.co.uk/ Only half hour up the A1/A46 and he'll look after you. Better than going to main dealer and paying through the nose mate..
