You know you wanna....
Usual high quality Circuit Days event, no extra charges for additional drivers, passengers etc etc.
Link (http://www.circuit-days.co.uk/event_info.asp?id=361)
-
so essentially you can turn up with 4 mates and pay £30 each, whats the deal with insurence?
-
Within reason, yes - you obviously can't take the p***, but my 3 mates that own the track Bora do lots of CDays events for that very perk.
You've also got to consider how much abuse the car can take and how much that translates to your seat time between 4. You don't really want to be staying out too long on standard brakes for example, so you could do 15mins out/15 mins rest.
You don't have to be insured, but I'd recommend it if you can't afford to lose it.
-
Might be worth trying to share the car sticker between cars providing that only one car is used at a time? could be up for this one, ill check my "working away" schedule :driver:
-
Stop being tight. Oh, and the one with the calloused hands can get you discount if you ask him....

discount is good, we dont all drive economical 2.0 n/a cars you know :)
-
I did Oulton Park at the samt time last year, twas a good day out.
I even managed to just about set my brakes on fire (AP 4 pots) in the old Ibiza
-
Economical?? Ha!!
Yup, Oulton's a hoot off season. Even on a dry day it's two different tracks as it changes through the day, really challenging.
Oh, and kudos on the fire, that's proper man-braking. I think I was on that day too, was it a SCN day, got fogged off late afternoon??
-
Yea, that was the day, Tony :happy2:
I was in the little black mk4 Ibiza Cupra. I did 8 very hot laps playing with a few Clio's then the red flag came out on the last bend before the puts so I didn't have time to do a cool down lap. When I pulled into the pits there was smoke poring into the cabin through the air vent, I had to drive round the padock to cool them down :signLOL:
Edit: Have a look at some of the pics I took that day, Tony http://www.flickr.com/photos/14057550@N08/sets/72157623245909819/
-
Well, you'll have to get the MKV on now to see how it compares!
I was in a white MKV GTI, think it's the only one you don't have a pic of. That MKII Escort was ace.
-
What the damage for track day insurance? (roughly)
-
If you're with Greenlight, £50. Through the likes of Moris (http://www.moris.co.uk/) probably £70-ish.
-
Insurance cost me 100 quid for OPL at Anglesey, think its usually a % of the cars value
-
Sounds about right, Gaz.
I may be wrong, but I think you can choose to insure say £10k of the car, even if it's worth £20k as a bit of a gamble to lower the premium, they also start knocking money off for good behaviour the more you use them too.

thats how I understand it Mike, you could chose what level of cover you had, that price was for the full value of the S3 with mods etc
-
you guys are lucky I couldnt get mine to any reasonable level with Moris!
-
Just booked myself on this. :jumpmove:
-
Good man :happy2:
-

I'd ignore that, won't show half the people who booked it over the phone etc.
-
If it wasn't half term - we are off to the lakes - i would have liked to come along to this and tried to bum a ride with some of you, if you'ved have had me :ashamed:
-
If the seat is empty, anyone is welcome - I quite like having someone to chat to on the way around!
-
Thanks Mike
I will take you up on that offer another time

Same here, desperately need to fit some fun into a day blighted with work and waiting for my new kitchen to be delivered... :sad1:

Hmm - TC I had a spare foglight cover in the garage with a hole in, I'll check it out tomorrow before you take the holesaw to it.
Oh, and you're not tracking it with a bra on, are you?

Nice one for the fog cover, i havn't chopped it yet, waiting to see how much it needs, so that could save me a job. :happy2:
And i do plan to wear the bra. PG had a stone go straight through his bra at the ring, god knows what damage it would have done if he never had it. Is there a reason why i shouldn't. :surprised:
-
cos its looks sh*t .........
-
cos its looks sh*t .........
I like how it looks with the bra, but that is irrelevant, its there to protect from chips. Just because you have let yours go to the dogs, doesn't mean i will. :booty:

TC It will most likely be considered 'loose' and you'll be told to remove it. It'd cause all holy hell if it were to come off and land on a following car, even though we know it won't.
Ask the scrutineers on the day.

Looking forward to this tomorrow now. :happy2:
Couple of question's The parcel left at the post office for me, wasn't what i thought it was, as such i dont have a tow strap. Are you allowed on track with just one tow eye, either front or back. :happy2:
Also this is my first english circuit day, so i have a couple of question's on etiquette.
Are you allowed to drive with your lights on, even if its bright enough not to need them.
Letting cars passed. Do you expecteded to indicate each time to give them the nod for passing. :happy2:

It's a MSV track..so...
1) Single tow eye is fine (front or back..you choose)
2)Generally they will say switch it off as it is deemed to be intimidating
3) No don't need to indicate but wait for car in front to indicate to say its ok for you to go past.
Have fun!

According to the local weather report it is going to be dry and windy until 1pm then raining for the rest of the day. :sad1:
-
rain on track days is brilliant. makes you drive so much better. You always try the hooligan methods if its dry.
Looks like a good turn out of cars. Even a 2CV!!!! as Ian says, plenty of pics please
@ Tony danza, who do you use for track insurance that give discount for being a regular customer with no claims etc?

many pics?
I dont think anybody took any pics. Had a great day though the weather held out, no rain at all. There were 4or 5 closures throughout the day, i think everyone was a bit dizzy, it being the first one of the year. :signLOL:
The difference in my driving skills from the first lap to the last was measurable, happy to admit i was all over the place at first, but improved vastly throughout the day.
My RS4 brakes were awesome until near the end of the day, not blaming my little excursion into the kitty litter on them but the pedal was losing feel and i was having to press hard on them to get the results i had, during the day.
Toms TTrs was epic, i thought my clubsports were the bees knees until i had a passenger lap in his car, they or his car was another level, felt like he had about 200 BHP more than mine.
-
:congrats: :pomppomp: :happy2:
-
Superb fella's! :congrats:
Why did 'sick boy' throw up then?
-
I would like to say it was because of the G-forces excerpted on his head, with mine and Toms super fast driving. But alas this not the case, he is just a faggot.
-
ive never heard of anybody being sick on a track day before, thats nuts
-
ive never heard of anybody being sick on a track day before, thats nuts
He went out with Tom at first in his a RS, and got out white as a ghost saying " fook that he is mental not getting in with him again." then he said "i will go out with TC he is slower" 2 laps with me and he said let me out i feel sick again. Half a lap later i said are you ok Joe, no answer just heard him Ralphing and then swallowing, then near the end of the lap he started chocking because he couldn't swallow fast enough, i think the sick was up to his sun glasses by now.
So i had to kick him out in the pit lane. Then the official came up to him in the car park and said we cant take that helmet back you us 60 squid. We all fell about laughing. :pomppomp:
-
:signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL:
Motion sickness!!! or perhaps im just a fag!! :P :signLOL:
Im fine when i driving, just being a pasanger made hurl, 'topcat pull over, pull over, gag gag gag gag, HUUUUUBBBBBGH,' NOT A PRETTY SIGHT! :driver:
TC cant believe you went of!.... oh wait, oh yes i can, you nearly went of on the sighting lap! :signLOL:
Toms car is simply awesome, even in standard form. Nothing could get past, even 997 gt3's :surprised: :scared:
-
pmsl, surprised TC didnt chuck you out mid lap so you dont drip on his recaros :signLOL:
-
Nothing could get past? I had my camera on you know....
Clutter FTW!
Jokes aside, cracking day!! Nice to meet those hadn't before, hope you all had fun too (well, aside from chewing chunder).
-
lets have the new vids then
-
LOL... sounds like you all had fun!

They're processing for editing, here's a snippet of my mate in the Bora showing what happens when you turn in too early and get your line all wrong.
-
^^ oops! :scared:
-
He got away with it.
I might have had an error too :ashamed:

I presume that it was 'non contact'?
-
Yeah, nothing more than bruised pride. I'll get the pic shortly, Wilko (the jinx) was in the car and captured it...
-
everyone comes off at some point in all fairness. ive had more than a few moments where ive almost dropped it intop a barrier, but have stopped just short of a barrier just like the bora did.
Need a couple moments to gather yourself before you carry on lol
-
Who was driving the Bora Mike when it spun??
-
Who else would it be? Can you not detect the Coventry twang in the "Oops!".
-
You cant call that off roading.
....Did you think you were still in Belgium?
-
Nothing could get past? I had my camera on you know....
Clutter FTW!
Jokes aside, cracking day!! Nice to meet those hadn't before, hope you all had fun too (well, aside from chewing chunder).
Sick boy was driving on the lap you passed Mike. He was being shouted at constantly to slow down! I really did not enjoy being a passeenger in my own car!
-
LOL!
That explains a bit actually, he was going steady and seemed to gun it when he saw me, I was only regaining ground under braking and corners - then the pass after Shell was very submissive. I take it you told him off by this point?
Looks nice in the video though, they're processing at the moment.
-
yea, i wasnt gunning it, kept getting shouted at and toms a-hole was twitching, plus i wouldnt feel too good it i damaged such a nice car, especially if its somebody elses!
-
Racing driver excuse number 39, I believe...?
-
Gutted. I would have come along to this if I'd seen it.
Loved Oulton the last time I was there.
