Had my ED 30 4 weeks now & compared to my 05 gti there seems to be more than an extra 30 hp or what ever they call it . Would those of you who have had standard factory power figures rolling road tested please post the figures & are they up on the VW claim ?.
Thanks in advance :happy2:.

MYbebots already been mapped

The delivery will be slightly different as the bigger turbo will give it slightly more turbo lag but give slightly bigger punches of power. This may be giving you the impression its faster than it is.
VW do however have a history of underestimating their power outputs.

Funny that, ive been thinking exactly the same thing - ive had mine for a week and a half and its much more punchy than my gti and more than 30bhp would suggest in a car of this weight. Have read that some make a bit more power than standard.

Dawain (GTI_mad) put his standard Ed on the rollers at JKM and it made 227.4hp.
You can see the graph on JKM's website.

They sure do

You say that as if you have some sort of proof Jeynesey?

Mine made 240bhp as standard before mapping.

Mine ran 230.4 bhp when it was standard :happy2:

+1. Mine made 232 and 226 bhp on the same rollers (JKM).

Mine made 213bhp at the wheels on Xspec motorsports rollers.

No they dont, Some dynos have a history of exaggerating power outputs. Ive seen many times std GTIs and ED30s on the same rolling road days give out figures within 30hp of each other.

Yeah my mk4 had almost 160 bhp with no mods at all

If your talking about punch then its probably the turbo spool as mentioned being more noticeable and punch isnt down to bhp its to do with torque which is also up on the ED30, bhp only really matters at speed to counter wind resistance. Could also be your driving it harder since its a new toy! :driver:

The edition is noticeably quicker than the GTI... i could tell a difference straight away! :driver:

As richwig83 says.......its quite a bit faster top of the revs end an noticibly faster everywhere else in every gear (my old gti was hardly a slouch), Just surprised me how much more than the gti - must be a good un  I dont think its chipped as it does not feel like it has that kind of power to weight and that would be nearer to my mk1. The eddy is worth every penny over the gti IMHO, just working out where to start in modifying it......brakes or suspension first after the dull pescara's are refurbed???
