Damn damn damn damn. Took the car in for it's first MOT today. Forgot to tell the service staff not to wash it. I know, they think it's helpful, but I'm sure when the sun shines on it tomorrow I'll find it covered in fine hazing.
At least it passed the MOT
So, do I now resign myself to a day of clay, polish, seal, wax etc. Or is there a simpler remedial rescue that I can perform?
-
Looks like you will be busy washing your car then :signLOL:
-
Yeah I had the same issue - forgot to tell'em not to wash the car. Really frustrating to see all the swirl marks a week after I'd applied the second layer of collinite!
-
I was in the same boat but they didn't wash it as they were to busy, dealership was choccer bloc busiest I have seen the place. car passed its mot :happy2: might be gone on friday :ashamed:
-
Thankfully, the second time the car went in, I told'em not to wash it. Disheartening to see one old guy using the same bucket and one sponge to wash an entire car. :scared:
-
My local dealer washed my Ed30 and completely fecked the paintwork. This is after having told them on numerous occasions not to. Once I discovered this I made a point of going back to the dealer and dragging all and sundry out to see the damage they had caused. They took it back and 'mopped' it but it looked barely any better once returned.
They know now and I have offered anyone who washes my car now a free kicking round the car park. :fighting: :fighting:
-
I've had this with the dealers too with my old TDi. Looked like buffer trails over the entire car!!

It will depend on the damage cause as to what your best plan of action will be mate.

An afternoon of clay, polish & jetseal and all is well again :drinking:
-
How you finding the Jetseal?
-
Absolutely brilliant. Was going to email you to say so. :happy2:
Didn't get time to get the wax on top though, ran out of daylight & temperature. Those applicator pads you sent me were perfect as well mate.
-
I have a 'DO NOT WASH' on file at my local dealer and it's worked every time until 2 weeks ago when they decided to wash it after failing the MOT :fighting:
Luckily i caught them at the foaming TFR out of the jet lance stage and ran across the car park shouting 'dont wash that forking car!!!', quick rinse and all was fine thankfully!
-
Most annoying thing ever! No matter how many times I tell the dealer DO NOT WASH MY CAR! They still do and I've on many occasion nearly lost my mind!
-
Do they only wash the car with an mot? Got me worried now as mine is in for a service soon :fighting:
-
Even if you put a big notice on the dash board "DON'T WASH THIS CAR" they will miss it like the full services they do!!
-
I was the same when i took my fabia in for warranty work, always said dont wash it, and made sure it was immaculate when getting there. Nothing worse. I dont use main dealers, you end up worrying about your car and itsprobably the apprentice servicing it and your paying top dollar for it. Better off with a mate doing a homer or an independant, cars in far better hands!

If they have the car for an hour or more, they will wash & vac.

I always put multiple copys of that all over the interior, Rear shelf, dash, passenger seat.
BUT still the monkeys missed it on our Ibiza. I had just detailed it to sort all its problems out when it went in for the bottom void bushes to be done. They washed it if thats what you can call it and god knows what they used  It had, had all the protection removed and the paint was dull as dishwater and looked like it had been cleaned with a brillo pad :fighting: I have never seen a car with paintwork so bad ever and i use to run old bangers. :fighting:
So i will never go back to that dealership again. Im glad i was not the one who picked the car up as i would have been done for murder.
Im dreading having to take my mk6 in for its first service. :ashamed:

Now thats a cracking sign!
I took mine to Audi, then when it came back it had been washed and whatever skanky chemicals they used had marked all the black rubber round the windows.
Not happy,
-
What about washing the car before it goes in, would they still try and wash it?
-
I had my Merc in for a big service about 18 months ago....cost £549 which included the gearbox oil change which is about £200+
I had spent 4 hours cleaning polishing the car the day before and it was immaculate
I picked it up and they had washed it ! It was obvious it didn't need doing.
The car was all greasy/smeary and had not been dried properly etc!
What is that greasy oily stuff , like wax they use on it?
I had to polish it to get the stuff off.
-
Probably some kind of silcone used for trim etc, did it smell of strawberries?
