Post by: x5pea on January 21, 2011, 11:29:49 am
A contact at VW called me yesterday offering me a basically new golf R at a knocked down price. Sadly im not in a position to grab it so thought i would post up incase anyone else fancied it

Bear in mind this is a £36k car with a sizable waiting list for new cras, its is a registered car with 6k miles on it and a decent saving on a car thats holding its money very well at the moment.

Car comes from a VW Main Dealer with all facilities (service, warranty, finance etc) Pm me for contact details.

Golf 2.0 R
3dr
Deek Black Pearl
Leather
Sat Nav

Genuine question here, as this is kind of related. I've always wondered how much of a 'deal' ex-demos are??

If they buy and register a car for the business, does that mean they can claim the VAT back?
I've seen how much dealers pay for demo cars, it isn't list. Why do they always then quote what it would have cost Joe Public?

I have been looking at the prices of Golf R's ... and saw a DSG one for that price.  I think generally the prices are coming down - still silly levels though.

Buy our EX-demo that was practically gifted to us from the factory, the one that every dreamer has sat in and every sales bod has screwed and we will knock a "bit" off.  They do usually offer a nice spec but in my eyes not really a deal that cant be turned down.  Interesting point about the VAT but im sure that they would have to pay the VAT once they sold it on, especially prior to year end?

Yeah, there will be VAT, but whether that's on the whole car or just the 'profit' I don't know. Be interesting to find out?

I recently spotted a Blue one for under 29k on a 59 plate, can't remember the mileage, but as it didn't stick in my head it couldn't have been high.

Quite a few around after just looking before posting. :happy2:
