Ummm well just been out for a little drive since fitting new intake,,,
1..Really didnt feel any more responsive, if anything less, and i dont think it makes a very good induction noise, sounds like a hairdryer, and makes a high pitch whisteling noise when you floor it..
2..Think my DSG is fooked, car seems to be holding back, and feels lumpy..
OVER ALL NOT VERY HAPPY....
-
What did you put on it ?
-
Neuspeed P-flow
-
I know it's a daft question but the maf plug is all the way on??? Easy done
-
i will check but 100% sure it is,,it clicked lol
-
I had no problems after fitting my P-Flo and could feel the difference immediately...

hmm. might just be me being paranoid..lol...was yours a deep induction noise?
-
Only when you load it up, but its still not realy loud due the the under bonnet sound deadening...
-
mine makes a "Darth Vader" noise...can also be described as a hair dryer, also makes a loud high pitch whine/whistle when you put your foot flat.
i have an ITG and its DSG

-
Maf fitted the right way round?

....Which is why I purposely removed mine a long time ago - Or rather some friends did it for me

Don't suppose you still have the material do you Robin? Mine is f**ked and torn?!

....Buried somewhere in my car's batcave and probably guarded by hordes of hungry spiders. Dunno if I still have the fixings though. My car won't be torn apart when/if I sell and so no future need, plus you probably already know I have a carbonfibre bonnet.

Why do you want it Al? Surely you don't want to 'deaden' the Twintake noise
-
Well everything is connected ok, mar can only go one way,,, not really driven the car today. But I'd did feel a bit jolty just moving it around the driveway, doesn't like starting up either... Seems to struggle starting up now aswell....
-
The only variable is the maf in this case as nothing else is fastened to it. It's not being damaged has it or Youv just being unlucky and it's not working correctly since it's being touched???? But you would need vagcom to check.
-
Well no I don't think so, took it out carefully, and put it on the workbench!!! When just put is back in,,, anyone with vag com in Suffolk
-
The gti is know foe feeling like It takes 1too many turns to start. DSG driving is small spaces and parking isn't the smoothest thing either!
-
Gave it a good bit of abuse on the way to work and it felt fine, maybe better lol, would like it on a dyno now..

Is the intake pipe at the back that goes into the engine on correctly? Mine was slightly loose and caused the car to stall or rev erratically when stationary or pulling up at junctions.

Hadn't thought about it that way to be honest, Have you taken yours off too? not fancying the clean up operation underneath!

I run a P-Flow and don't have the problems you mention. Are you 100% certain the MAF has been fitted the right way up? Should be as shown below:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fpeter0976%2FOctavia_vRS%2FP1050813a.jpg&hash=b2571110961f3b31a599a97c75978af66ae7b603)
Also if it is making a whistling noise it might be worth checking the jubilee clamps are tight enough on the silicone hose connector.
-
There is also a small possibility that the turbo is on it's way out. They can make a really High pitch whistle when they are abit tired. But without hearing it it's hard to say if the noise your hearing is normal...

Yes the maf is the right way and all clips are tight!!
Better not be the turbo, car hasn't even don't 30k,
-
My car makes the high pitch whistle/whine on full throttle and im just running revo and dsg stage 1. Ive had the car pressure tested for leaks etc and everything was fine. I was told that it could be excessive induction noises. With regards to it being the turbo, im not ruling it out but surely if it was, it would get progressively worse and not just need wide open throttle for it to be heard. :scared:
-
When on full throttle the turbo is under it most load and you would depending on how bad it was only get the noise then. As for it getting worse there is no time limit it could go on for years or it could only last a week who knows.. But with out hearing the noise these are just guesses iv a video of mine it's not a p flow but it's the same designe see if you can hear it

-
It's not a brilliant video but you can hear it's no whine or whistle just a turbo sucking induction noise. Ha to use scientific words there.
-
Was it ok before fitting the intake? Why don't you put the standard intake back on and see what happens?
-
Yeah thats very similar to the noise mine is making. Its hard to be 100% sure because your not flooring it for long enough in the video
Trick Gti are you saying yours is most likely induction noises or turbo, im confused lol.
-
Spent ages researching the P-flo before I bought my intake.
The high pitch whistle is perfectly normal apparently. (Although i did read if u wiggle it about abit, or adjust the pipe somehow, the noise will disapear) I'd try googling it mate  :happy2:

Sorry im not great with wording things. It's just normal but the noise should just be a induction suck not a screech high pitch noise and just as you thought it wasn't normal I was just suggesting it could be things like that but without hearing it it's just guesses. But glad it's just normal in the end. Enjoy it
