Hey folks,
I fitted an RCD510 today, along with a sub/amp, but I just wondered, do I need to 'code' anything using VCDS? As I get a rumbling from the sub when I turn the car on, took it to a car audio place, he just said the amp was quite fiery and turned the gain down on it and if it continues, disconnect the negative wires from the LOC.
But I just thought perhaps I need to 'tell' the system to expect the fact an amp and sub is connected? I know this needs doing with the dynaudio pack, so would this apply here?

no it won't need codeing..does it still do it now the gains are turned down

Long story short, I fitted it all bar the ignition live, I did ask him to check the LOC and he said he connected the earth wire from the LOC as I hadn't done that.
He then said the amp was behaving fiery, so he turned the gain all the way down and said it should be ok but keep an 'ear' out for it going over-the-top sound wise.
Basically if I go and sit in the car now, I will turn the ignition and hear a rumble from the sub.
I haven't touched any gains in the RCD menu though I must admit...

check the remote wire conection or try running the phono leads on the other side of the car away from the power cable if you aint allready done so

Best way to describe it.
Is when the radio is turned on, I get a 'heartbeat' sound from the SUB for about 2 seconds, like the woofer itself is flexing back and forth.

sounds live its getting a direct live feed have you got a power cap in your system

It didn't do it when I had an Alpine head unit though... Only since swapping to the RCD

It's possible it can either be your LOC causing the issue.
Otherwise there is a remote chance it can be your amp or wiring.

I think the problem with the Alpine amp/sub is that it uses one of those connector blocks, so unlike the usual Amps and subs, where you run seperate wires, this one is all in one lead.
The power cable is quite thin too compared to the usual Amp power cables.
I might take it to local car audio place and see what they say, although I can see myself asking them to just sort it out and put decent speakers in! I've spent enough... Argh! :grin:

think the rcd doesn't have a remote wire (blue) so you have to wire the acc wire from your ignition so this might cause the problem

If you are using the any of the oem speakers or running the amp through the headunit at all then you need to code the stereo for the sound pack.

...Interesting, thanks Darren will give this a shot tommorow! At one point I saw Radio (Analogue) and Radio (Digital) the analogue was checked, I take it thats correct?
I will code the radio for soundpack.
