Title: Ko3 engine capability
Post by: TrickGTI on January 25, 2011, 09:14:21 pm
As some of you already know iv just gone stage 2+ and I'm more than happy with it at the moment!! As for future plans for the car this modding business is getting a tad addictive  :signLOL: so the question is what are the real known limits of this engine as for going ko4 stage 2+ and say managed to get 370 would this be to much for the poor thing??? Is anyone running near this as I know there are a quite a few who have done the conversion but iv not seen modded conversions.

All this is just for future plans for the car wether the engine gets done and then I can do what I want or just leave it as it is!!! Lots if things running through my mind. So this is to start me off wether I wait and go the full hog or I can i go abit further for now...

Any advise welcome please  :happy2:

Revo offer a stage 3 i think for the ko3 (ko4 conversion) and its about 300bhp from what i remember, but then bacillus has gotten 300bhp fom his ko3.

On JKms rollers the K04 converted cars with REVo stage 3get neigh on the same figures as the OEM k04 cars with revo stage 2+.

So on JKms rollers your looking at 320-330hp, others 350-360hp.  (390+ on AMDs )  Have you gone nuts on the chassis mods, Id get the full raft of them done, and you'll benfit from the money on a more regular basis, as let sbe fair a stage 2+ @ 280hp isnt a slow car by any means, and the mk5 chassis isnt the sharpest of the bunch when standard

....I agree with Sy - In my opinion it's better to improve your car's handling and braking than only go for big power. Ultimately, whatever mods you do, you'll never have the fastest car on the road and it's preferable to have driveability and reliability. So, my K03 GTI is staying at Stage2 (260bhp on JKM's dyno).

Hi mate it's got about 5k miles on it now and it's great zero slip it is noisier tho but half of that is due to my engine mounts
