Hey i am new on here and to the mk5 golf scene
I had a mk4 golf for a while but that got smashed into by a big lorry :( So I had to get myself an upgrade.
Here is a pic of my old just so you know:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fii276%2FACSmith_123%2FP300510_1408.jpg&hash=8c37d5b4fe32e574b34c9e260c1b9b72e163568c)
So anyway got myself a Mk5 Golf 1.6 FSI SE, got loads of kit like, cuise control, 6speed box, auto wipers, auto lights etc

First thing i bought about 2days after picking up the car was some new wheels, went for some BBS RS II 18x8.5 et32 and 18x10 et40 they had just had a full refurb and in A1 condition so had to have them as always loved these wheels :D
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fii276%2FACSmith_123%2FDSC02793.jpg&hash=3c1627a5893649828a3da55465058ff470368227)

Next up was a set of coilovers to sort out the way she sat
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fii276%2FACSmith_123%2FIMG_0363.jpg&hash=ae03bcaee0eaed2ee6f2f3c938e631fcd21d5839)

Also trial fitted the wheels to see how they sat, got a bold 225/40 18 to try over the rear to see if they would do and was happy enough so going with them on the rear

Very nice mate. You going for cosmetic mods first and then moving onto Performance, or just doing what takes your fancy at the time?
-
Yeah, most important thing for me is to get it sitting right so once that is done want to play with the body work and interior and then maybe a play under the bonnet but unsure what to do. turbocharged???
-
Very nice BBS wheels. :happy2:

Cheers mate
fronts: 18x8.5 et32 with 205/40 tyres
rear: 18x10 et40 with 225/40 tyres
No rubbing but yet to ride with the wheels on as waiting for nice weather :P
-
Those tyres must be streeeeeetched! :signLOL: I was rubbing at the back when I had 19x8.5 with an offset of 45 but I did have 235/35/19 tyres on, since switching to 225/35/19 they have been fine. Also do the screw mod at the front if you haven't already :happy2:
-
Not too bad look at the pictures, wont rub but will be close want it really low :D
-
Nice car bro, very keen to see some pics of the car with the new wheels on as I want to fit wheels with similar offsets to my Jetta but 19's it is also Graphite blue :happy2:

UPDATE: Got my new springs through from www.coilsprings.co.uk and they are spot on :D
• Fitted new springs on the front
• Removed rear adjusters

Need to lower the front more as got about 10 more turns but driveshaft is knocking on the chassis as it is so will get it notched and wound all the way down asap!!!!
Also won a front bumper off Ebay for £20 so been having a go at smoothing that but will wait until its sprayed to add pictures :D
C&C please like to know what you people think ;)
-
where does the driveshaft hit exactly?? if you lower it to much you may end up with it hitting the discharge pipe from the turbo and get a boost leak.
Looks good though :happy2:
Have you considered painting the protectors on the doors in a colour that resembles the rimedges?? just to lighten the look of the car?
