Title: Vauxhall Zafira
Post by: stealthwolf on January 27, 2011, 08:08:53 pm
What are these like? Quite worringly was almost embarassed by one yesterday!

After visiting Nousey, returned home. Red lights on NSL DC. I was in the third lane right at the lights since the first two had lots of cars. Zafira behind me. Given that the road up ahead merged the right snd middle lanes, I decided to ensure I was adequately ahead.

Lights turn green and I accelerate quite hard (70-80% throttle, bearing in mind slightly wet surface). Amazingly the Zafira stayed on my tail. I stayed at 60mph since there was a camera up ahead. I decided I didn't want to "race" with a Zafira driver, especially as it was a female driver with kids in the back! :stupid:

Is there some kind of VXR model of this vehicle?

Hi had the older Zafira GSi and they can go well, suffered a lot from the small intercooler and its placement. But very capable engine and despite what some people say it could handle corners very well.

Andy they are a 7 seater mate, the flex 7 seating system is a genius the back second row of seats pushes forward and the 2 3rd row seats come out of the floor, then you push the second row backwards and you have 7 seats,

the Zafira VXR has the same engine as the Astra VXR, so they are tunable to around 290Hp with the basic bolt ons.

I wouldnt recommend one if you want to put kids in the back.  with the back seats up, the tail gate is only about 5cm from the back of the seats.  Ive seen the aftermath of a zafira that was back ended, and luckily no one was in the back seats as they would have been in a bad way.

However id say get an SMax with the 2.5T.  sounds lovely, goes really well, handles really well(thats no joke either, they are mega impressive) look better and have more room in the back with the 7 seats up

They did a crash test on fifth gear last year which involved the first gen zafira and a rear shunt with a skip wagon hitting the rear, the skip wagon's engine cover actually touched the rear 3rd row seats :scared:

2nd the Smax though I was going to change from the focus ST to a SMax titanium x 2.5t but the wife wanted the golf.
