Title: Strange noise
Post by: M7AXB on January 28, 2011, 03:29:15 pm
Hi folks,

Don't know if i'm being paranoid but, I thought i'd ask to be sure - My car has been making a strange noise when accelarating at lower revs (approx 1500rpm) then disappears as the revs increase to about 2500-3000rpm. I can't think of a way to describe the noise as it's quite unusual. Does anyone get a funny noise as well or have any ideas?

Car is a standard 05 GTI

Cheers

You'll need a better description than that dude. Just try your best. Is it like a whistle, a whine, a knocking, grinding hissing etc etc.

I know mate, it's hard to think of something it relates to - it's not a whine, a whilstle or anything like that, but a chugging/rumbling noise :signLOL:, I'll try record the sound on my phone and post it up!

Yes it DSG mate, not sure but it'll  be a good excuse to go a hoon :driver:

cheers   :happy2:

If it only makes the noise when in a high gear at low speeds then It's just the dash vibrating and stuff. The load on the engine creates alot of vibration.  100% normal
