Many made the change? I originally got the ED due to fuel economy but it doesn't seem that great. That noise would make up for the rest is sure.... Price are similar too.

If I were to swop, I'd move to a rural area to get the most mpg from the R.
live in a urban area, then perhaps the difference in fuel usage and tax hike is more then you think?
R32 does look and sound the mutz though agree'd :happy2:

If you think the Ed is bad the R32 will open your eyes. :wink:

Brave man that swops an ed30 for a R32 when fuel is going up like it is, if you think the fuel is bad on the ed30 then you will hate the 32, plus road tax is over £400 if you get the wrong year, sound good though.
Perhaps wait a bit longer till fuel hits £1.50 (by summer if you believe the press) and people will be struggling to give them away.

but with the fuel on the up and the economy as it is, the will the R32 residuals take a hit

I know, petrol is a bitch, I dont do many miles but still sit at 65 rather than 70 for the mpg saving.

im thinking about a gti to r32 swap already, only had the gti 3 weeks, would of thought the price will drop as fuel goes up!!

I always remember a R32 owners post when he was selling it to buy and edition 30, on his drive down to pick the ed30 up he got 26mpg from the R32 on the way back he got 36mpg, that's quite a chunk more on your bills

I'm betting they drove harder on the way there than on the way back. Car's going so you have one last thrash and then careful with the new aquisition. Plus there's an extra reason; swapping a creamy V6 growl for a 4 pot drone means there was no aural entertainment on the way back!

I've drove the mk5 r32 and the normal gti and I certainly think the gti is better car?

I'm currently considering swapping my GTI for an R32 and having had a little test drive in an R32 last week they are a completely different car.
I'd definitley recommend a test drive before making your mind up!

Theres a reason VW knocked thousands of thousands off the R32 to clear stock when new were they did not with the ED30/pirelli/GTI.

I had a V6 4motion a few years back - and averaged 22-24mpg for all my driving to/from work.
The same driving style and journey to the same place of work in my Edition 30 gave me 30-34mpg. To my mind a significant difference.
My Edition 30 when I had it always amazed me with how good it was on fuel for a car with such performance.
I sold my Edition 30 and have regretted it ever since.
