Title: Good nights work!
Post by: dnLcal on January 28, 2011, 10:39:59 pm
My first mod apart from the RNS510.

Ive noticed alot of people have done similar mods but my obsession with black and green made me do this...

Before

It's on the car now.

I'll take a pic tomorrow after ive got my splitter back on (its currently in my house halfway through a repair)

I did the green in vinyl and just sanded and sprayed the badge.

Took a long time to trim the vinyl and make it look nice, but it looks good so was worth it!

What do I think?

I'd like to see it on the car and also in the flesh before making a final judgement. But personally, I usually prefer that 'lipstick' to be the traditional GTI red.

But perhaps if you also had green alloy wheels (TDs?) it would look uber cool.

^ Personally I prefer it not so slammed.

Cheers for the comments.

I think green wheels and mirrors are a bit too far.

And here's us thinking you had an obsession with black and green  I think you should do the mirrors black and the alloys green

Spent all morning sanding and painting my splitter and its on now.

Had to turn the workshop back into a kitchen.

Heres some pics

not sure about the green behind the vw badge now, it was a pain in the arse to do and im not 100% with the finish. this pic shows it in an angle where you cant see the green too much think i may remove it. what you think?

I think that having the green inside the VW badge makes much more sense of having the green 'lipstick' line as it's called. They work better together....

and green alloys even more so! You know you want to!

I havent seen that aha!

I'm in two minds weather to just return it to standard now (after all that hard work).

We'll see if it makes it through the weekend!

On another note, im plesently supprised with how the splitter came out! its by no means perfect but im not a sprayer!

Will be getting the front bumper and splitter redone in summer as the stonechips piss me off everytime i clean the car (which i haven't done this week hence the state of the front of the car.

I would go with it mate, Nice to see something different,
Though it is hard to find a bad colour match when you have a white GTI.

What else do you have planned for it?

HAhahahaha. When I suggested painting my stripe green, I was met with a barrage of "nooo!", "don't do it", and stuff about heritage/homage.

Anyway, better than alloys, I figured green stripe and green calipers would be a good match.

I did think about green calipers. We'll see I think I'm going to take the vinyl off the badge though. May paint it some other time.

Don't really have any plans for the car yet. This mod was done out of bits and pieces in the bottom of my tool box.

I like that. Works better than I thought it would when I saw it off the car.
