Hi when the Mechatroncs unit is replaced do they change the oil in the dsg box . TIA
-
Yes they should replace the oil.
-
I would really hope that no one would put the old stuff back in.

Hi , thats fine as i started to think id gone mad so you do change the oil when you replace a mechatronics unit thanks
-
.
That's good to know. It means that I've now had 4 DSG oil+filter changes in 90,000 miles - Can do nothing but good I reckon :pomppomp:
-
I thought DSG never went Pete Tong? :booty:
-
If you took the mech unit out without draining the oil first you would get a wet face.

....Just as reliable/unreliable as any other car component. :P

....And that DSG oil has a very strange smell too. Too disgusting to describe. I wouldn't want to taste it.

Its my second favourite oil smell behind Motul engine oil (which smells like a sweet spot).
Its normal manual box oil that stinks. Thick rotten egg smell that takes 3 showers and a bath to get rid of.

....Really? :surprised:
When I had my DSG oil changed recently I was there throughout the process and also witnessed the oil, all marked as for DSG, being unpacked. I was sure it smelt bad as we all commented on it. I was also having an engine oil change in the same session - Fuchs oil.
