Title: VWR alloys
Post by: Carrera2RS on February 01, 2011, 10:57:24 pm
Any views on the VWR alloys ?

They are quoted as lighter the Pescs at 9kg, couldn't find what a stock wheel weighs.

....Genuine oem Monza 17's weigh 11kg (to the nearest kg) and Monza 18's weigh 12kg < Weighed on DEFRA approved and annually calibrated digital scales.

My OZ Allegerita 18's weigh 8kg - Exactly as the OZ factory label state.

Lighter weight wheels give more feedback to the driver - A great mod if you enjoy a taut and tactile ride.

I was led to believe they are PR 1.2s without the writing and are 8J, the 1.3s are 8.5J. SteveP will know, he has them  :happy2:

....Worth checking further. VWR badged offerings are often made for them to their own specification and so are more than just a relabelling job.

When I spoke to Simon about them while my car was with them, I got the impression they were a PR1.2 without the writing in an 8J with the correct centre bore so there was no need for spigot rings. That way you could also fit the OEM VW centre cap to the wheel.

There Just 1.2s with the wrighting removed in "there own" Matt Antheracite... that you can order from TD anyway  :happy2:

All the new 1.2s come with a machined spigot now... unless requested by stockiest that might want to widen there stock range by fitting different sized plastic spigots

The stance on that car is perfect - and those alloys look fantastic
Would they weigh much less than a normal set of 19s?
I've never seen any other golf or audi with 19" TDs....
