Just picked up another edition 30 badge (same as on the bootlid) that I want to put under the GTI badge on the grill. I know some of you have just stuck them onto the grill directly but looking at it there is not much contact between the adhesive and the honeycomb of the grill, surely this can't be reliable ... is there another way of securing these??

I don't own a GTI or ED30 but I'm just thinking out loud here.......
Could you not remove the GTI badge and glue the ED30 badge to it using something on the back to bridge the join between the two then put the GTI badge back in its original clips??

Perphaps I'll have a look later not taken the badge off yet (being lazy) :ashamed:
-
Just stick it on... it WILL work. :happy2:
Mines been on for 6 months and no issues at all.

I always thought that the ED30 front badge was part of a GTI badge that you bought that had the edition 30 writing on underneath.
Did not realise that people were just sticking the boot ones on.

Use Araldite....the quick hardening one. Push the badge against the grill , the pressure will mark the rubber padding then put your glue on these marks and press against grill. Don't put too much glue on as it will drip down onto the grill. Hold the badge in place with some tape. Then leave overnight. Hey presto :happy2:

Just stuck mine to the grill and it hasn’t move or become loose in 8 months. There’s several posts on here about it.

I would avoid using glue, because if you ever want to remove it, youll need to buy a new front grill.

1. Why would you want to take it of?
2. Araldite does not fuse to the plastic so is easily removed ..............as i have done it because it drips if you put too much on1 A sharp 1/4" wood chisel and stanley knife blade cleared it perfectly.
3. Depends what the sticky backing is like and whther the one you have is old...........they all are as they dont make any more and the ebay sellers have got job lots of them! My sticky backing was about as sticky as water hence why i stuck it on. I dont want it to fall of it cost me £8

Took mine off after about two years as I thought it made the front of the car look a bit cluttered.......
