Ok folks, i have been reading through reviews, comparisons, you tube vids etc with no definitave answer.
So please help if anyone knows, i am wanting to buy either a itg maxogen or twintake, what i want is a noiser intake with the whooshing/fluttering sound of the air recirculating when lifting off the accelerator, performance is not the first thing i am after but is part of the reason i want a new intake. Also i want to modify the stock engine cover, is either of the two intakes better for refitting the cover after i have modded it? Thanks for the help

The itg would be louder being an 'open' filter. The twintake filters are enclosed in a tubular covers

Haha, well thats sorted then!!! Now where can i get one of those?? :signLOL:

I have the BDM which is essentially the ITG maxogen. (but better :innocent:  )
It'll do all of the noise stuff you like too. Chatters like a monster when you want it too, and a nice loud turbo spooling noise.
Added bonus was 5bhp and 33 lbft torque! :driver:
-
ive just fitted an itg and its pretty noisy. quite addictive after a bit :signLOL:
-
I had an ITG and its pretty loud, as is the evoms. After hearing robins twintake at the JKM RR day i was really shocked at how quite it was in comparison.
Not a bad thing as it performs just as well, but if your after proper intake noise you need an open filter IMO. The ITG/BDM and evoms master.
However ask jabbasport about their new intake, its massive, open filter using the twintake pipe work. Would be keen to see the gains on it andf from what i gather it sounds biblical

:surprised: :surprised: I've never seen that! Looks amazing! :driver:

thanks for the replys,
jabbas intake looks a beast....
think i will be going for the itg tho, just need to get a spare engine cover to cut up first
anyone know the cheapest place for the itg?

I had a BSH true seal on for 5 miles before I took it off. Too much noise for me, by that I mean the whoosh pshhh noise, I never got the goose noise associated with these intakes. To me it sounded like a jet engine :scared:
I did some maf logs and it made a healthy increase over standard so I suppose I could save it for dyno days.

I suppose I will admit I may have been wrong :surprised:
It also gave an increase in boost @ top end over stock box, but I ain't using it for every day driving

what G/S did you gain?
For what its worth your not the first person to complain about the BSH noise. If your after quite as i said earlier the twintake (one of the highest performing intakes) is also really quiet when compared to the ITG/EVOMS/BSH and neuspeed inates which i have heard. It also sounds alot classier because its enclosed.
-
14g/s over stock box and filter.
-
Been running the Bsh Trueseal for over a year now and love it the sounds the best part about it  you'll always get that sound with an open cone filter, Also came up trumps when on the dyno  Proofs in the pudding :driver:

.
As Sy says, my Twintake isn't as loud as some folks were expecting but most have only heard it from outside the car. From inside, where the sound matters more to me, it sits well balanced in the sound mix. I didn't want an intake which overpowers the Grrrrr from my engine mounts or to detract from my Milltek. Like my car's driver, it's classy and sophisticated
As I've said many times before, sound is very subjective and we each have our own preferences. By all accounts, ITG appears to be the loudest currently.

well cheers for the replys gents, i have took on board what has been said but...
in the end i opted for the twintake, purley for the looks! I'm just hoping i will get some noise from the stock dv, heard a few vids of the forge spacer and not to keen on the sound, and after driving a evo 8 today, really want some tsssssch!

....I haven't driven an Evo to be able to compare but the Forge spacer sound would quickly irritate me and it also attracts a lot of attention from pedestrians. It's nice when people notice your car and admire it but not when it's due to chavvy noises, imo.
I hope you're not disappointed with the Twintake sound, you certainly won't be disappointed with its build quality, you can hear it but I doubt it's as loud as an Evo because everything on them is loud! Or am I mixing them up with Scooby's?
Take care to orientate the Twintake filter cans the recommended right way - Should be on their latest instructions downloadable pdf from Forge UK web site.

I'm sure i wont be dissapointed, looks a great piece of kit!
Think i will be tarting up my bay a bit now i will have somthing to show off, really like the look of yours RR, think i will be going along the same lines, but probs with a chopped up original cover, is it the osir carbon bit you have?

....Yep, the carbon strip is OSIR and unfortunately expensive. It comes without any VW logo too. Good idea to fix any centre strip to engine cover with Tiger Seal to stop rattling.
