Not something i've worried about before merely read others woes on the matter, but the dreaded white worm has found my car :sad1:
Brought her out of storage for the summer and gave her a damn good clean.... only to discovery each wheel was covered in this:

when i last saw them they were just fine but now clearly not, so considering i havent really been paying attention to white worm discussions what are my options?
i'm guessing to fix this i would need to get the wheels re-machined? if thats the case i might consider painting them (black inserts white spokes :innocent: proper marmite )
thoughts?

White worm means the lacquer's been breached. Needs refurbing. Not sure about a white face (though white rims on a white car look ace). But defo black inserts.
-
Hi are these Merc wheels ? .I had the same on a 8month old Merc the dealer wasnt interested
-
they are merc rims yeah, AMG 19's :innocent:

ah right, so an easy fix then?
so refurb vs paint then
i know what you mean about white rims, but the cars white and the haters will hate on me if i do it so something that i may just have to do

Those wheels look superb :happy2:
Sorry that the white worm has bitten.

I have 18" AMG on my CCLASS SPORT, The dealer wasnt interested and I told him what I thought and guess i wont buy another merc with Diamond cut rims lesson learned
-
ive gone through tonnes of alloys on tonnes of cars in my time but never encountered it before, i'm not bothered about it, a little miffed sure but good to know its a trait of merc rims so par for the course
shocking though really when you think about it, if this had happened to a merc i owned id be kicking off too!
-
Personally I don't think these alloys would look good in white. But you can prove me wrong  If they were mine, I'd do the inserts gloss black and the spokes polished. I think that would look fantastic as they are very nice alloys. :happy2:

.
I know someone with a Merc whose Merc alloys got the white worm. His dealer wasn't interested either. It's shocking!

Sorry for the white worm VC as the wheels are fairly stunning, as we know :sad1:
A refurb in the colour scheme described gets a marmite vote from me!
-
Have you tried burping said worm?
I would say a spangly black-chrome would work nicely with your car. White would be crass imho.
