Well spent 6 hours with EddieNL (Thanks) yesterday trying to get the cruise control work after adding the stalk a while ago (part number 1K0 054 690A)
We tried controllers 1K0 953 549 BP , BD , AK AND BF . All of which did not make the Crusie work correctly. It did work for the one ending BF but then we, or should i say Eddie couldn't get the Steering sorted (Power steering would never return!) . So he suggested that i should call VW and quote my VIN and ask them which controller will make the Crusie work correctly. I called VW Wolsey in Ipswich and after a discussion i was told that it was not possible with the **** stating if the car hasn't got MFSW it will not work........VIN is WVWZZZ1KZ7W****** and is a 2007 Edition 30 Manual with No MFSW and ...Midline (Is that right Eddie?)
Any ideas..... as we reckon the one ending BK will make it work.
-
Should be do-able. I have a 57-plate ED30, manual, no mfsw/highline.
vRStu fitted my cruise control - might be worth having a chat with him? Didn't need a new SW controller or repair wire.
-
That is strange...
I know the BC controller has problems with cruise but the others should be fine.
As for not having a MFSW thats utter rubbish!!
BK has SW0101 just like the BF so in theory it shouldn't matter, although its worth a try???
-
I have the Bc controller as standard so hence it didn't work..........I think to say we were a bit frustrated was an understatement!
-
When you say you couldn't get CC to work, what were the symptoms??
-
Did the cruise work with the BF controller but you couldn't get the power steering back???
-
The issue was that the controllers that I fitted required basic settings for the G85 steering angle sensor. However the car wouldn't accept it. tried both the ABS (03) and steering (44)
As it was getting dark, I put the original one back and that did also require basic settings which did work
Cruise did work with BF, but that was not the problem.
Etka suggests BK or AL for the vin
-
Those are a real ball ache to do Eddie, did it for someone last week, in a similar situation. Perseverance is the key.
Did you login before trying to adapt basic settings?
-
yep I did the log in, even tried changing the slip ring and tried a different G85
-
I find taking the car for a bit of a drive beforehand helps too.
-
apollo........yes the cruise worked but eddie couldn't get the power steering back......he did experience full throttle rolling start acceleration in it though which brought a smile to his face
-
Had exactly the same with Snapey's GTI he had the BC originally so I put a F in and it worked perfect, same spec has yours Garrardrj. no mfsw and midline.
The F controller comes on almost all earlier cars that had midline, although the controller is a highline controller.

Has you car got MFSW ? Reason I ask is that although mine is a 2005 build car, it did come from the factory with cruise. When I fitted the MFSW however it wouldn't work. I had to change my module to an AK unit.
Can't remember (as I'm at work) what the Rev is of my original unit but it might have been an "F" like Darren said above, but I still have it somewhere, and you are welcome to it if you want to try. Like I said, it came on my car fitted with cruise as standard from the factory but without MFSW ?
-
that is great thanks...if you find it let me know
-
I'll have a look tonight for you mate and let you know tomorrow :happy2:
-
Right, found it. It is indeed an "F" revision (1K0 953 549 F).
It's yours if you want it. :happy2:
PM me with an address and I'll get it sent out.
Andrew

Excellent thankyou......another one for Eddie to try. It sounds as if it might from what you said in the earlier post
I have sent you a PM :happy2:
-
Just a quicky,
Take your VIN off the first post, bad people can use info like that especially has you have also put specific other data in there.
Cheers :happy2:

So we all know what could they do with the info then?

I'd rather not say on here but if you insist, when you start getting NIP's through the door and an identical car driving round with your VIN and reg all over it, then you will start to think why on earth you would put your VIN number on the net.
And before you say well its plastered over the front windscreen, I know it is but your windscreen is not on the internet for all to see,

Well said Darren! Why make life easy for the toe rags who want everything for nothing? It breaks my heart reading on various forums when somebody's prize motor has been taken or cloned.
-
To clone a car is easy and as you say my VIN is in the front windscreen. So is my Registration number on the car aswell. Both freely available to anyone that looks at my car. To post my VIN on the internet is no more of a problem than parking it in a public place. How do they get the plates cloned is something that needs to be asked , they cannot get my car and if it is cloned it is not down to me to prove i wasn't there. It is down to the authorities to prove i was....congestion charge, fail to pay for fuel, parking etc.
I have no issues with having my VIN on the internet, it is just a number and any decent SVE will distinguish between a cloned car and the original.
I like the discussion and hope for more discussion on the subject :innocent:

Richard,
I've only just arrived back from a site meeting in Scotland, so didn't get chance to post the steering controller to you today. I'll do it tomorrow... Promise
