Title: Newbie from N Ireland with an ED30
Post by: darrens on February 23, 2009, 08:39:42 pm
Hi everyone,

This forum was recommended and is worth it alone for the Jonnyc's thread!

Just changed from an E90 BMW to an 08 Edition 30 and I am absolutely loving it.   The better half has a Jetta 2.0 TDI Sport and I keep my toe dipped in the dark side with an MR2 Turbo (have a big soft spot for Toyota and just sold a mint Supra).

Been doing a lot of reading in the forum over the past week and have a good idea of what I want to do to the ED30 but I will no doubt have lots questions for you all!

Thanks

Darren :happy2:

Pics tomorrow, promise.  Just heading out to football.

My photography skills are truely appalling so don't expect anything arty!  I just point and click and if they are not blurry then success!

Have you any mods carried out to the Jetta?  Really struggling for ideas!

Is it best to post pictures in this thread or in the member rides thread?

Also forgot to ask, how do you find out what actual options the car has as I'm not sure what is standard.  I know it has a winter pack, but what does that actually consist of?

Traitor!  Saw it on 5th gear last night and it did sound mighty impressive.  Loved the noise of the RS, the only thing which is sadly lacking the ED30.    Will do a bit of research on the Evoms and give you a shout.  I'm from Mid-Ulster area.

777 outside of Cookstown will do a revo remap if youre interested, theres a 20% discount in the group buy section, will give you a suprising amount of extra oomph for the money.

I was all on for Revo or Bluefin this morning but have spend the morning reading through the forum I am slightly put off the idea due to the clutch slipping issues etc.  Its my daily driver the MR2 is a bit of a money trap so I don't want to get into too much expense on the ED30.

Plans at the moment are suspension, intake and Milltek and to be honest I am happy with the performance of the ED30 bearing in mind it spends most of its week on the motorway.

Will drop you a pm about the evoms

No it's her company car and she wouldn't appreciate it anyway! Would love to mod a 2.0t at some point though as the American GLI's look the shizzle
