Title: Reflex Silver ED30 (small update on Page 2)
Post by: darrens on February 24, 2009, 04:22:36 pm
Just joined the forum last night and I was told pictures were compulsary so here you go!

Picked up my ED30 last Tuesday after changing from an E90 BMW so its my one week anniversary  :jumpmove:

The Jetta (2.0TDI Sport) is my wife's and is just a few weeks old so no mods yet and the MR2 Turbo is for a bit of weekend fun although I'm debating on whether to keep it now I have the ED30.  It was bought to liven up the weekend as the beemer was so bland to drive.

PS this forum is really affecting my productivity at work

Excuse the poor pictures, I'm rubbish with a camera

I'm from N Ireland but picked the car up from Stoke-on-Trent.  It was an interesting drive to the Stranraer in snowy conditions  :scared:

I noticed that.  Wouldn't be my colour of choice either tbh but I came across this one with 1100 miles and most of the interior plastic protected and I couldn't say no!  I have just had so many silver cars in the past few years and would have preferred a different colour.

Does look really well in silver mate  :happy2:

Looking at the wife's Jetta I'd be tempted to:

Matte black vinyl wrap the front grill as the silver on silver doesn't work IMO
GTI headlights
Lower it (springs)
GTI wheels

Would look  8)

i agree , think the standard tails on the ed 30 just look silly now , vw should have supplied them with at least milltek sized outlets  :happy2:

A milltek will definately be one of the first things done.  I agree totally on the tailpipes.

Title: Re: ED30 and a few pictures of my other cars (Updated with coilovers)
Post by: darrens on June 08, 2009, 01:16:37 pm
I sold the MR2 last Friday night as I have enjoyed driving the ED30 so much the MR2 rarely got driven so I thought the sale would help fund a few changes to the ED30.

Purchased a set of FK Highsport Coilovers.  They could go a lot lower but on the roads I live on it isn't really possible and its my daily driver. Also want to keep the car quite suble and OEM looking with a slight nose down stance.  Only other change so far is a set of pressed metal plates keeping the standard font.

Last few pics include my wife's Jetta. Still really stuck for ideas for it. Have fitted the lip spoiler so far and hopefully coilovers next so I will see what the current wheels look like when the car is dropped.

Thanks  :happy2:

It has really helped the look of the pescara's too as I had thought about changing them.

The guy who fitted them had them wound down another 10mm but I got him to put them back up again.

I think I've said before but what about a GT Grille on the front of the Jetta to break up the silver? Then some Monza's with black inserts!  :happy2:

Would the GT grille be hard to do on the Jetta or is it a direct replacement?

Small update

The FK's and I just couldn't see eye to eye so I replaced them H&R sport springs which very nearly give me the drop I want but the ride is a lot better for the roads I live on (out in the sticks!)

Also fitted a Milltek non res catback exhaust along with an ITG panel filter and changed the front VW badge to matt black.

Still considering vinyl wrapping the front lip on the spoiler along with the wing mirrors and rear valance in matt black but I'm not sure.

Future plans are a new stereo (probably the RNS510) and a Milltek downpipe and then potential a map (but only when I have the money sitting ready for a sachs clutch).

Some new pics after a few layer of dodojuice!

One of the drawbacks from living in N Ireland unfortunately (apart from the weather!) is getting people who are competent enough to do things like this.  Have only been able to find one guy who would attempt it and even he sounded a bit iffy.  I would like to the wing mirrors done at the same at and that was a definite no no

Car is looking great. How do you find the Milltek non resonated compared to the standard system please as i'm thinking of going down this route.

I actually find it quite quiet, its just a deeper bassier sound.  There is a slight drone at around 70 which I noticed on my first trip home but I haven't really been aware of it since then.

It does sound great though when you give the car the beans and accelerate hard.

I was worried it would be too loud but its perfect and tbh I wouldn't mind if it was a little louder.  Definitely glad I didn't go for the resonated.

Hope that helps
