Hi,

I would love a GTI and recently posted here with a few queries but I was also wondering about your thoughts on the TDI and which is the best model? All I know is that there is a 140 and a 170bhp version? I am looking at MK5's.

Will hopefully test drive one next week. Are there any issues or any beneficial extras I should look out for?

Other half has 2007 GT 170 TDi Mk5.
In terms of pace of perfomance and getting miles per gallon from it - it's a pretty good blend.

She's now keen on a A4 Avant as we've just had a baby daughter and with our two dogs the Golf is a little small.
Think we're gonna go for the same engine again though 2.0L 170 TDi, even though the latest ones are common rail versions.
