Ok, at long last my extra budget for car mod spending money is due in a couple of weeks, so I've been given a budget that I can "blow" on the car.
I'm having the front of car resprayed by vw as my 1st spend, to cure my stone chip woes, and the other is what wheels to purchase.
I want to keep the Red/black theme going, but I can't decide on whether to go for some BBS Black edition CH's, Taledega 18's in gloss black from the Golf R, or go for something else that would suit the car.
Anyone have any idea's, or help me decide which to plump for?
I'm not interested in lightweight alloys, as she doesn't get used on track , or have enough other traction mods to worry about going Lighter in life.

Well, I love the alloys you're running on at the moment. I think they really suit the overall appearance of your car.
-
^^^ decisions :signLOL:
Ok i spoke to Vw last year, and they quoted me to do wings, bonnet, front face and spoiler £500, car collected and courtasy car left for the
duration of a few days.
Going back to the alloys, the offset of one set im looking at is 45 and not 51. My current Detroits are 7.5" wide and ET51. Am i better to go for
8"width and ET45?? What will it do as to regards looks, improoved handling?? I dont want them to stick out like when you shove Scirrocco alloys
on a mk5. It doesnt look right.

Ideally Robin, if i get a 2nd set, and can get Detroits refurbed and stored for warmer/less harsh months.

im running 8" ET45 and although a little poke theres nothing major i dont think

keep the alloys you have and go revo stage 2+ instead

Keep the ones you have Steve if you aren't interested in going lighter.
If you must have new alloys and don't want to break the bank, I agree with Ian and the VZ's, or......

Really not meant to be a hijack situation but as BBS CK were mentioned earlier in this thread, can i ask.
Does anyone know if you can get the CK's in anthracite finish but in 18" size, the larger 19" option seems to be most often advertised.
Really wanna keep on 18's for my Ed30. On my white 3 door I think these would look very ok..
Do you reckon that would be 8J rather than Pescara 7.5 wide? So would 225/40/18 tyres still do?
Please excuse my wheel ignorance..

I think VMR 710 are best looking alloys seen in long time :notworthy: really suit the mk5 gti and come in matte black/ gunmetal/ hyper silver, i would defo go for gunmetal in 19s look quality. I need to get these out my head :scared:

Those VMR's do look the bizzo, and are very reasonable in price.
Are there an disadvantages going to 19's over 18's?

not as many different tyres to chose from and weight. I'll be going 19" this spring as daily drive rims, but 18" for track and winter :happy2:

I've already put a marker down with the Wife that i'm having a set of these in 19" this summer :pomppomp:. I think they look fantastic on a MK5, VMR do some seriously nice wheels in my opinion.

Great great set of wheels, I think the guy has them on ebay. Really want a set for me, but 19's aren't the most practical and I have no $ to buy them, but are watching them all the same!

Are there any UK suppliers of these alloys? I've had a search but can't find any. 19's are available on ebay. I am thinking about the 18's.

he was liking the VMR 710s yesterday, that of course was yesterday so things may have changed :popcornsoda:
-
VMR's have totally been played out stateside, still life in the design over here though
-
Im abit worried about getting hold of a set of 19's, seem to be abit of a premium for those, may stick to 18's, but the look may not be the same on 18's without having to lower the car, which i dont want to upset that.
Im still looking closely to the Golf R Talledega's in Gloss .
But Easter time will be when i put the order in, when finances allow.
