And then 4 years down the line when it's done 20k and the gearbox goes and it's out of warranty VW won't do anything as they haven't been loyal to the brand, if you've got full VW history and something major goes wrong and you can prove your loyal to the brand then they may be able to help depending on circumstances

+1 Talking to the helpful service lady today, she commented that VW will only consider a loyalty contribution when the car has a full VW service history.
When my A/C compressor went last year VW were very good about it, as I had a full VW service history.

My 2ps worth , get it done at the dealer , £129 isnt much more than a tank and a half of V Power , and you have the peace of mind that VW cannot quibble about your warranty.

Agree about the goodwill, I got my arches sorted FOC because I had the full stealer history etc. Wouldn't have had a look in otherwise. The fixed price servicing isn't that expensive anyway, my local stealer is actually cheaper than some of the indy's about :stupid:

I would take it to the dealer , i can do all the work myself but the stamps in the book are like gold dust when its time to sell or p/ex. I will always do the jobs myself that anyone can do....brake pads , discs , shocks , springs , tyres , exhaust. Just get VW to do the basic service and keep every receipt for the car...new owners just love receipts and signs of a well loved car , makes it alot easier to sell aswell. :happy2:
