Title: Sky TV Packages.
Post by: Gene Hunt on February 23, 2011, 01:17:52 pm
Just got rid of some we no longer use, kids packages etc & along with the rip off £10.25 hd subscription & saved a huge £183.00 a year. :happy2:
Worth having a look if you have things that you are no longer bothered about.

we tried a while ago, but our packages are knitted together so that to get the kids and movies we have to have the sports or something like that

We have the full lot, multi-room, HD, 3D blah blah.

Only watch certain channels from each section and its costing around £70 a month I think. Crazy money to watch TV.

I threatened to cancel, they dropped the price from £50.75 to £30.25, for the Sky+ HD World pack. Didnt have to lose any channels!!  :happy2:

I disconnected completely. They keep putting their prices up every year!
Already had virgin phone and broadband, so added the TV. The SD picture looks better, and i get more channels for less money as part of my package. On top of that, all you pay is a single £50 activation fee for HD, and thats it - no monthly charges for HD whatsoever, just the one off setup fee!
Menu system takes a day or two t get used to, but I like the TV on demand features as well.

I have to say I've always been unimpressed with the SD quality through the HD box.  I go round to other peoples houses and their picture is a lot sharper through freeview.  Some channels like ITV / most of the music channels can be particularly bad.  The HD is obviously a lot sharper but then I turn on my PS3 and its another level of clarity again.
