Title: smoothed front grille *offer*
Post by: broke. on February 25, 2009, 12:27:04 pm
right, i don't know which section is best to put this in so mods feel free to relocate.

basically i've been looking for a smoothed front grille at a reasonable price for a while now and settled for the fact i can't. So i got ringing round a few body shops. i ended up calling a bodyshop quite close to me that has done a few PVW featured cars. They are currently smoothing the holes out of my front panel and finishing it matt black with the 'stripe' section changed to white. they are doing this for £25.

if anyone wants theirs doing also, pm me and i will meet you at UD or post it to me and i will get it done and posted back to you asap (within a week)

i am located in west yorkshire for anyone close who wants to meet up or wants contact details for the shop.

I am making no profit from this

Ahh, that's what I'd been planning if I'd have got a spare. Might take you up on that if I find one.

BTW VW have 2 in UK stock for £80 using the H part no. Confirmed as US spec smooth.

there's genuine spare one's on ebay for £40 in sheffield near me. unused. i thought £80 was a bit steep myself. for £25 quid i'm not having to buy a new smooth one (£80) or having to buy a spare one to smooth seperate. if i come to sell the car i can just put the plate back on and re-drill teh holes if the buyer wants. seemed the most cost effective way for me  :happy2:

Yep, £80 and then having it custom coloured on top isn't just steep, it's near vertical!

Always better to do it to a spare though. :)

Where are you putting the plate broke?

Let me see if I can find a decent spare Broke and I'll bring it to UD if I can.

I'd want the matt black, but the stripe in enamel blue (same as the grill on a G60 limited) - do you think this would be an issue? I'd pay a bit more as they'd have to mix/buy paint.

i have a shortened pressed plate on the front so will probably put the plate in its original location. the holes were starting to annoy me as they clutter the front when visible. altho i will try and go as long as possible without having one on at all  :P

the colour shouldn't be a problem but i will ask for you when i go back for my grille.
