Title: RCD300 Replacement
Post by: garrardrj on February 23, 2011, 07:45:05 pm
So i have the RCD300 basic Radio/Cd and no mfsw. So what are my options for an upgrade? I don't need Sat nav but would quite like to lose the bee sting aerial on the roof (How could i get rid of it?) I do not see that i need to play an ipod but woud like to think i could and it would obviously be helpful for the next owner. There are alot of aftermarket units about but like to have the car original looking .
What is ther simplest upgrade solution? I have seen all the battery drains issues and don't want any of that hassle.
My budget would be about £500 , don't want to upgrade the speakers either or a bassbox !
What do the different VW units give you extra?

Hi Richard

The newer version of your current radio the RCD310 is good, and the sound quality is a big step up without having to change your speakers. Don't be put off by the battery drain issue with (RCD310, RCD510 or RNS510) as CAN Gateways are cheap.  There's not much you can do with the Bee-sting antenna.

have you got the other Steering controller?
