when pulled up / stand still you can here one of the belts making squeak every turn of the belt, from cold and warm
anything i can do to stop it ? the car is a 57 plate with 56000 mile covered is there something i can grease or replace
to stop this pikey noise coming from my car.
Thanks

Ha ha ha
Just do a search mate !
You need a new cam belt tensioner, very very common problem and just search squeak or bird in my engine bay !
All will be revealed !
:happy2:

yeah mate defo cam belt. i had mine replaced under warranty aswell last year, get them to change the water pump aswell while its all off the car saves you having to pay for the labour later on :happy2:

i have an aftermarket warranty will they cover this ?
-
im not sure mate to be honest
-
If you have a nice garage who are willing to class it as a fault you will be covered, but technically it is not, it is just noisy :surprised:
Love the vid ! That is defo your cam belt tensioner mate

I have the same problem with my ED30! From cold to warm it's there constant! Mine is an 07 and, VW customer service said they'll repla e it under warranty as I mentioned it whilst it was in warranty along wig replacing my steering rack! They tried to get me to contribute but, I declined as I mentioned it on several occasions and they did nothing!

booked in for tuesday
I have a friend who works on service desk at my local dealership
he's going to make some calls see what he can do :happy2:
-
just wanted to point out.
It was a nice day today (well this morning anyway) and once
the engine was warm the noise went,or at least got very quiet
would you all still recommend i still go to VW, when i called them they
said it shouldn't need it for 80k miles ! but they would want the car for 2 days
so they can find the fault / noise from cold and warm

Recived a call from my Dealer today, one of the pulley's has gone.
So they are going to do
Cam Belt and all Pulley's ect ect
Alternator Belt
Water Pump
Diverter valve or what they called it "Blow off valve" ??
Oil change and filter change
£1078 i will have to pay £278
Some parts i have to pay for as they are not covered under the warranty, but my aftermarket warranty
has covered pritty much everything else :happy2:

So is this covered under VW used car warranty? I think mine has this... only had it a week lmao!
Do I just take it to VW and get it booked in?
-
i would, lots of people on here have gone back to vw upon finding this noise.
and from what iv read most have had it sorted at small cost if not free.

Cool... will call vw tomorrow... :)

This is exactly my problem same noise same year car on my eddy, don't be fooled into a Cambelt spray the belt and around auxiliary tensioner to see if the noise goes or changes if so its your drive belt just like mine! I could video mine and you wouldn't tell the difference between the 2 cars yet mines not Cambelt. Hope this helps
