3 months after having a remap my early DV has died, replacing it this weekend with a revision D one.
Does the revision D give off any "dump" noise when lifting off the gas as my original one did???
-
Slightly different noise but it does yes.
-
Cheers for the reply.
I'm pretty sure my DV is dead. After 3k revs the dv sounds like it's wide open and is dumping all my boost :(
Got to be the diverted valve hasn't it ????
-
It's sounds like it. If you are hearing a long whoosh blowing noise then it probably has a hole in the diaphragm.
-
Yeah defo hearing the long whoooosing. And the car feels so flat!!!

Fitted the new diverted valve this afternoon. Pretty straight forward job, just a bit awkward getting to the top bolt. Once removed there was 2 tears in it. One was pretty big and there was another small tear next to it.
Defo recomend getting a "revision D" to anyone, with it fitted car feels very strong when in boost. Makes me wonder how long iv had a hole in as I guess they all start pretty small and gradually get bigger.
Anyway all in all, a simple job :happy2:

how much did the rev D set you back ?
-
Id like to know that too

Got mine from JKM, £45+ vat. get one ordered. :happy2:

Cheers Thor.
I was reading some bhp runs from the JKM RR day and some of the lower readings
were all down to a Blown Diverter valve.
Is there anyway to check if its blown or is it just a case of knowing the car runs like poo
excuse my dumbness lots of reading and fiddling with the car as i go along will help me out.
-
The diverter valve set me back £49 inc VAT from VW/Audi parts store.
Ul know if it's gone cause the car just won't pick up. You will also hear a whoosing noise as you accelerate. That will be the boost escaping threw the tear.

On the GTI you need to get under the car as the DV is near the turbo, on the Edition 30 it is visible when you open the bonnet, lower right of engine cover near to air intake. The 13th post (warren cox) on the thread below has a picture guide on how to check them. :happy2:

If you have access to VCDS you can log boost and N75 activity.
They will show evidence of a boost leak and if that's the case then the DV is an easy fix/check.
