I had the car in today for a 40k service, took them a day and a half.
had the 40k service, dsg service, brake fluid and air con service, cam belt and water pump, MOT, paid for the 2 year service plan, so handed over £895 altogether. after a day and a half the called me to say it was done.
They then tried to charge me an extra £100 for parts for the cambelt change, as the edition 30 has extra rollers they said, and the parts cost them £100. I pointed out that there price included 2.0 ltr engines, and no clauses about edition 30s, so they backed down at that point.
Then checked the car before I drove away, and found a 4 inch scratch on the bumper under the headlight. I checked the car before I dropped it off, and it definetly wasnt there, but they said it wasnt their fault, they hadnt checked the car over before they did the work. I have a couple of machine polishers, and I know for a fact it wont polish out.
Then when I got home, I noticed that they hadnt even changed the spark plugs???? I'm positive it should have been done, checked the leaflet and it states that they get done on a major service? the car hasnt had new ones in since it rolled out of the factory?
Bad day all in all, going back tomorrow to give them an earfull. Pulman VW in sunderland, avoid if you can :fighting:

That's bad that. Seems to be a lot of dealers damaging cats at the moment
With regard to the spark plugs, on the 2.0tfsi it's 60k or 6years on the vw service schedule

a cam belt at 40k miles ?

a cam belt at 40k miles ?

Sorry to hear of your woes Heavyd. :sad1:

You would thing the best place to get your car done and looked after would be the dealers but most of them i wouldn't trust fixing a wheel barrow..Lookers in Darlington bend my sills on my car so why,i took it to Northallerton to get sort out at thier expense but the manager of the body shop scratched my rear bumper..So thet gave me a free mot then the idiots did a update on the ecu that i told them not to and it wiped my remap of :stupid:
-
It happens I'm afraid! We do ask customers if there is any damage on car on arrival and then check it before we move it and if there is anything there that they didn't mention then we give them a call and mention it.....if they kick off! Then the car is in the exact same place they left it, some do slip through the net tho! Ask to see the Damage report and if the mark wasn't on there then it's there fault! Simple! I'm sure they will sort it! As regards to the spark plugs......that's just shocking :fighting:

which dealer was it by interest ?

6years for spark plugs! That sounds extreme! I was told it was included in the service, so I expect it to be done?
-
Mine went in the other day for the coil pack recall and I forgot to tell them not to wash it. They did and the next day when it was sunny the swirl marks left by them were unreal! Rang them and shouted at the manager who said they will buff them out when I go back for the coil packs. Not convinced though.
-
My dealer "Ridgeway Volkswagen" (wantage) are very honest, if they have ever broken or scratched anything they just
say they did it, and would fix it.
Every time my car has gone in for anything including something simple like
making a change on VAG computer, they wash it in and out before i collect it :drinking:
-

Don't bother. If they use a polisher, they won't prep the paintwork and won't do a good job. There will be buffer trails and holograms everywhere.

I was told by JKM that spark plugs are changed at 40k major service. 6 years seems a bit long.

With my previous golf, I went to pick it up from the dealers after a service and noticed a scratch/ mark on the front of the car just under the number plate.
I was sure it wasn't there before so went and had a go. Waited for the service manager to have a look and he agreed to a free repair but insisted it was 'out of good will' because he's sure that they wouldn't have done the damage. They did a good job on the repair.... It wasn't until a couple of days later, I remembered I had driven too close into a fence... :ashamed:

Extra rollers on the ED30. :surprised:
What a load of bollox!

I feel for you Heavyd :sad1:
Similar to my woes with Harrogate VW a while back. I keep my cars a clean as possible and had only waxed it 2 weeks before and it had a quick once over the day prior to dropping it off. It was gleaming, looking as good as anything new on the forecort if not better. When I collected it they`d washed it :fighting: and smeared the tryes with the worse tyre black I`ve ever seen, I hate the stuff, I couldn`t beleive my eyes when I found the nearside rear door and sill scratched, not too bad I thought, not quite as bad as yours and I manage to do something with it, but still "it wasn`t them" Like bo££ocks it wasn`t! Smarmy bullshi££ing clowns.
I`ll never use Harrogate VW for anything again, infact I`ll not use any VW dealer unless I`m desperate.

Let me know how that goes.

Doms car is always one of the cleanest and best kept cars that come into our workshop, shame that dealers are seemingly going downhill lately.
-
I'm still going to try for my spark plugs, she told me they would be fitted so I'm going to make sure I'm going to get them
Wrote a lovely letter to VW customer service aswell.
I Got my machine polisher out, 10 mins later :popcornsoda: :popcornsoda:
I suprise myself with my skills sometimes!

Similar story at my local dealers I'm afraid. Left the car in for warranty work on the turbo and when I picked it up there was a nice, deep 3inch scratch on the driver's door. Got them to check the damage report and they then admitted fault. Booked it in for paint correction which they then botched, so got a full respray on the door out of them.
Next time in the garage I had just fitted my brand spanking new 18" Zolders. Mechanic drove teh car into the ramp rather than onto it, and scored them. They agreed to pay for refurb, but did a half-arsed job. Fed up with them now though. Now using another dealer 15miles away instead of 0.5miles away, and alloy will be going to A1 in the next few weeks, along with another I kerbed, for a full refurb.
-
Nice work dom, got a complete mk5 here if you need some more practice
-
excellent job,Dom when you doing mine :signLOL:
-
Sorry to here your woe's mate :sad1: give them some sh@& Dom :pomppomp:
I think I am lucky cos I know quite a few of them down at my local VW so when they see my car in it only gets done by the techs that I know :happy2: Never gets washed and I signed a disclaimer last year so they cannot tamper with my ecu.
I know people have had bad experiences with Leeds VW but every time I go down I don't have a problem :innocent:

I'm just glad I got the scratch out. I've always used Ron turnbulls Vag specialists with my Mk4, cant fault their work, butI thought with it being a more expensive car I'd use the stealers. Guess I learnt my lesson then eh! Just glad I got the scratch out :jumpmove:
Had an eventful day, as I managed to get this fitted aswell  Got the fuel pump swap down to a fine art now, 25mins :popcornsoda:

Not great dealer service :sad1: :fighting:
I think im going to photograph every inch of my car before mine goes into a dealership round here.
Iirc you can ask them to do an inspection when you book it in. Anyone remember what thats called ive forgotton :ashamed:
-
Dom, do you walk under a lot of ladders mate? Or have you dropped any mirrors recently? :signLOL: You have some serious bad luck pal, but at least you've got the scratch sorted anyway :happy2: You will have some good luck soon mate, i'm confident..
Regarding the plugs mate, I would just change them yourself. £40 and only takes 10 mins, did mine recently..
-
I'm definetly not the luckiest man in the world!
I managed to have a discussion with the service manager, and got myself a set of sparkplugs off them in the end :happy2:
