Opened the car by the remote drove for 10mins . Got home took ignition key out and now remote lock , boot opening and remote locking doesn't work ! Other key works fine , cause? How to rectify? Vagcom i would think? Typical ! Now computer doesn't work , technology hey. At least my iphone's working otherwise i couldn't type this

If your spare key works fine then it's the fob battery
-
Didnt think they had a battery but will look into that solution.
-
dude... how did you think your key fob is powered?

I thought i had read that the battery in it is charged up when put back in the ignition and it is turned on. Trouble is i am on loads of forums and have perhaps read it about another car. Which one would it have been?

iirc thats a feature on the BMW's. MK5 defo has a battery that you'll need to change

Well replaced battery. Still doesn't work ! Any other ideas apart from the one above. Would it be covered by the " comprehensive VW used car warranty" anyone?

Sorted :happy2:
Key needed to be adapted again

Is this where you may have prodded the button while the fob is in your pocket? That used to happen to me in the Fabia which had a 2 button flick key - I used to have to unlock the door with the key in the lock hole , then lock it the same way again - the fob always worked after doing this , apparently the code rolls too far from what the car is expecting to get if you press the buttons out of range of the car.

I had to remove the working remote from the CCM and recode both of them together
