Was talking to vrstu about forge quickshifter and he said he had an Audi OEM one on his old S3 which was cheaper and just as good.
Does anyone else have experience of the OEM one on a golf and if so the correct part number? If not will give Audi main stealer a buzz in week.
Cheers.

Have you got an edition 30 ?, i might be dreaming this but i think you will find the Ed30 already had the S3 short shifter
-
It's the OEM S3 shifter not a upgrade for the S3. Thinking on you might be right about the ED30 already having the shorter item.
I fitted it to my Octavia's.

Thats what i mean, the standard S3 item is the same as the standard ed30 item

8J0 711 046 E is the latest version, which has superseded the B version
-
doh, yes i have an 57 plate 08 ED30, so will go for the forge one, or will the latest one with the part number you have mentioned be an upgrade at an affordable price? thanks
-
I don't think 8J0 711 046 E is fitted to S3. It is an ED30 part.

Sorry just going on the ETKA info, i guess it could be wrong !

Lol - I've just got the same result.
I dug out an old invoice which was for a B revision and you are correct, it is now the part number you posted. :notworthy:
-
sorry to hijack this thread but would the s3 shifter fit on other models in the range ie a 2.0tdi jetta. its just i used a r32 shifter on my old bora to reduce the throw on the gear change

Do 'normal' GTI's have this short shifter or is it just the ed30's?
-

sorry, to clarify then, is this already fitted to the ED30 or is this a revised, improved part?
-
It's fitted to the S3/ED30 and TT.
-
It's fitted to the S3/ED30 and TT.
cheers stu. Sooo next question is it worth parting with hard earned for a forge quickshifter or will this really only be a worthwhile mod for non ED30 Gti owners?
-
Yes, it's the same. Fitted on TT (optional) and S3/ED30 as well.
-
better than the Forge one then?
-
It's fitted to the S3/ED30 and TT.
............well i didn't know that !!. In truth can't say i've noticed much of a change from my old GTI ?.
-
The TT/S3/ED30 short shifter reduces just about 12 % (non adjustable).
Forge shortens much more (and is adjustable).
Some shorten even sideways.
-
So an Edition 30 has a 12% shorter trow than a standard GTI?
Might be a nice mod for any of us GTI ownere if this is true, Can anyone confirm the above on ETKA?

Yes, exactly !! :happy2:
No huge improvemant at all, but really nice for the money.
I did this mod in early 2008 when I got my GTI.
-
How much is a s3 shifter then?
-
8J0 711 046 E - somewhat like 30,-- ??

this is good news as have ordered forge ones for this months mod now and was a little concerned that was not going to notice much difference but will prob shorten to 70%
-
Any one with an edition30/S3/TT that has fitted a Forge quickshift willing to sell/let me borrow there original to see how much difference there is in the design of the shifter and if it will fit a early GTI.
-
It will fit on any Mk.V GTI if it's not DSG.
In some cases you just have to fit the newer fixing nipple.
-
Is this suitable fot GTD?
Thanks
-
Yes,
same gearbox (all TDI with 140 - 170 horses) + all 2.0 TFSI + 3.2/3.6 VR6 on PQ35 platform.
