I doubt it. It's a commonly used 1 liner by the less informed on a certain discount website.

the rest of the tablet market that are about to swamp the market have been aiming to hit the ipad levels or above, the V2 takes that bar, removes the lube, and makes ladies of their hard/software and then lifts it higher

I've had £300 of Apple vouchers burning a large hole in my pocket since Crimbo waiting for this. It had better be worth it now all these young pretenders are coming to market!
-
No screen change then ?

The developments aren't enough for me to upgrade my current iPad to the iPad 2 TBH.
Apparently the same insider information that leaked most of the iPad 2 updates before the conference stated that development work on the iPad 3 has already begun, and that it will be a bigger upgrade then the iPad 2, with more drastic changes rather then a speed boost and a thinner design.
The bigger news is that the ipad3 will apparently be coming in the final quarter of THIS YEAR!!!
-
Sod that, I'm not waiting another 9 months!

Whats IPad 3 due to have as extra then ?
-
Apple (like most) are always going to be working on the next model, official release today and being shipping in 7 days - you dont think this one got completed months ago to get the production run sorted...
I very much doubt the next iPad would be released this year.
If you have an iPad then its like the 3GS to iPhone4 upgrade but if you dont have an iPad then the 2 is the one to go for. I like looking at other makes but the iPad/Ipad2 does have some nice features and a market leader for a reason - ok its not the best but neither is the sh1te phone side of the iPhone4 - I still have one though as the email and interface is great.
-
Nobody knows Stefan
At some point you have to bite the bullet and buy one (if your intending too) As soon as you buy a computer it's 6 months out of date anyway with the pace of tech development.
Their will always be something faster and better come along. The beauty with Apple Products is they don't get left behind as quick as PC's do. I know people that have got 7yr old iMac's quite comfortably running Snow Leopard. You won't see a 7yr old PC/Laptop running Windows 7
It just depends on what you want a computer for.
-
Exactly that. I use an old MacBook happily and run an iPhone 3GS, I'm waiting for iPhone5 to upgrade to.
I wanted the iPad V1 but knew any limitations would be addressed with V2 so have had a painful year long wait to finally own the tech
-
If you (like me) had decided in past few months an iPad would be nice then its been worth the wait, if your always waiting for the next version you'll never get one!
As for a 7yr old laptop ... well I have a hp laptop which I have had for 6.5 years now and thats running Windows 7 with 2GB RAM and works perfectly, in fact it runs it pretty damn well and I work with brand new laptops/desktops every day. Someone recently mentioned to me it was an old model, I told him I didnt see the point in shelling out hundreds of pounds on a new one when this works perfectly, he had to agree.
-
I have to say reading the Keynote !
It did not excite me as much as I expected it too ! I was hoping for some biigggg changes, but slightly smaller, faster, lighter and with cameras ? ios 4.3 will work on my Ipad now.
So why would I want to upgrade, as surely that is the idea of updated products, get new customers and get the current ones to spend more money with you ?
Im confused
-
Xoom will be a fair bit cheaper than the iPad (32GB+wifi is £450). wonder if that will make Apple reconsider the price?
-
reminds me of an email i got :happy2:
My mate has 10 iPads going half price, its first come first served.
He has already sold one (pic is attached.)
Let me know if you want one.

Hot UK deals is overwhelmed with cheap iPad 1 deals.

10:35 am: And another, this one for iPhone 4 only–Personal Hotspot.
Hmm MifI from the iPhone 4?? Tel Co's aren't going to like that.
They dont like it much but Apple have no choice, my old windows mobile has been doing wifi access to HSDPA for 2 years now and Android can run 2-3 simultaneous mifi connections also using HSDPA if available, so telco's are already dealing with the extra load they just need to realise every man and there iphone will be sucking data into laptops. Hence they have all started limiting there limitless data tarrifs.
On the ipad 2 im not sure if they have made a big enough step up not just with the hardware but with the software as well my problme with ipads is your data (without using a third party application) is still tied to itunes thats just doesnt work as a concept for something like an ipad which is supposed to be a mobile office, it needs to be a stand alone computer with the ability to support flash memory and standard USB drive support for drag and drop data management something apple will never do as they will loose the control they crave.
There are also some very exciting processor technologies coming by the end of the year from Nvidia and Qualcom, so dont be suprised to find android 3.0 powered tablets with quad core processors and distinct graphic interfaces and bespoke software and games by the end of the year, and an app store that doesnt take 30% of revenues.
-
3 have an unlimited data option still available. They permit tethering to share the connection, too.

I went in the Apple Store in Southampton yesterday and they've knocked 150 quid off the top model.

We bought a 32GB Wifi iPad last year and my wife loves it. The one thing missing is the able to connect an external hard drive to transfer photos, if this were possible I would be as happy as a man with a hat full of t1ts!
If iPad2, or in fact the Ipad3 which is rumoured to be announced in September offered this I could justify upgrading, however as it stands there isn't enough change in specification for me to warrant the expense for what we use it for
-
^^^
Surely your pics are on a HD in the first place for them to download to the iPad anyway?
Or are you loading them using Bump or the Photo Transfer App?
I too have an iPad1 and I love it, there is probably not a day that goes by that someone uses it in my house. I wont be upgrading this year though, you just get into that cycle of unhappiness ....

You can connect External HDD to the iPad and have been able to for a fair few months now.
