Title: brake noise
Post by: hoggj on March 04, 2011, 04:30:18 pm
Should i hear a rubbing (light grinding) when i brake (not hard, but when just normal or crawling in traffic) ? have taken it to vw and they said "they r fine with plenty life left in the pads" but they cleaned them and should be ok now? but when i left the noise was still there, when i called them they said "the noise might be the harder pads on this car with it having bigger brake discs.....??.

Rusty disc or a stone trapped between pad and disc ?

The sound is normal, might have non oem pads in. Can you still here it when warmed up and used a bit. You would get a grinding sound if the pads were down to the backing, but that is a nasty grinding sound.  :scared:

If you look at this pic, you can clearly see there is loads of pad left up against the disc, all you need to do is take a look at your own, and also check the disc for grooves.  :happy2:
