Title: bit of a odd 1 (wing mirror glass)
Post by: gillm on March 07, 2011, 06:24:55 pm
just moved the car of the drive and looked in the mirror and could not see anything . took a closer look to see the glass was missing , but the black backing was there . and it still heats up . is a case of just buying a glass ? or do i need a heated one ?

How bizarre!

The heating element is part of the glass, so youll have to replace the whole heated glass panel.

Just buy the new glass from ebay, just stuk mine back on after it fell off on my drive, just a quick  note dont leave your mirror on heated turn it to left or right so it does not heat up all the time.

sounds like your glass might have seperated from its backing plate mate, can you get a pic?  you probs need a new glass which will come attached to the back plate  :happy2:

My last GTI did the same when i was washing it. Just stuck it back on with ''no more nails'' sticky pads & it was still working fine when i sold it. :happy2:
