I reckon that is the inner casing, the tyre is damaged.

Yeah tyres a shot, when they change them make sure you get a proper alignment and balancing of all 4, as the wear looks a little uneven difficult to tell from part pic but not good

Is it driving ok?

It needs changing thats for sure, i take it the other tyres are fine? If so then search ebay for a 2nd hander, worth investing in 4 new ones if the rest are similar though

when you get the tyre off mate have a look inside see if there is something that looks like a shoe lace, i might be wrong but im sure it is chem cure. it sould only be used on agri tyres.

indeed, but by which time its too late.. lol. really wanted them to last until all 4 needed, and it wasnt too far off really, safest thing is to have it replaced

yeah it looks like an agricultural repair, we call them shoe lace or dog chew  repairs  :signLOL:    type `tyre repair` into ebay and quite a few of these kits pop-up.

And your right its best to replace  :happy2:

i think you could just have that fixed mate. you should be able to pull it out from the inside and ask a tyre dealer to repair with a plug patch.

....Sorry but I don't understand - Are you saying that those All Purpose patch repairs cost you £285!?

no but...basically yes...
They wouldn't pass my cars MOT, so i had to buy two tyres. at that cost.
They could have removed the tyre seen it was a repair and put it back.. costing me nothing! but no

Havent you got ground to argue that? Surely if the tyre is still legal and has been repaired to a good standard they cant argue the fact.

the woman on service didn't really know what to say so im going to call the manager, however i doubt hell b helpful.. they may argue its not good standard... i don't know how they should or shouldn't look to really argue it back..

Its worth a try. End of the day its cost you £285 for something that may not have even needed doing just because they couldnt be bothered to pop the tyre off!

Post by: SteveS on March 09, 2011, 03:20:34 pm
very true. ok i ordered two tyres because they told me i had too, but they could have checked this one when it was off and seen it was a repair and put it back costing £0... or maybe even just some ££ for checking it!
