Title: My new ED30
Post by: Lee Quayle on March 07, 2011, 07:03:57 pm
Hi guys

Just thought I'd let you know that I picked up my ED30 on friday and so far I'm very very pleased. Its a black, 5 door, 2007 with 46k on the clock. I think i grabbed myself a bargain as I picked it up for 12k with 2 year extended service pack and 12 month extended warranty, supaguarded inside and out and in 'as new' condition.

So far its totally standard but my superchips bluefin arrived this morning and planning on a resonated Miltek with induction kit and s3 intercooler to kick things off, and I'm having the Kenwood 7260BT fitted on wednesday.

As I'm a new ED30 owner and have previously owned 2x mk1 GTi's, 2x mk2 GTi's(8 and 16 valvers), Corrado Vr6, mk4 V5(150 and 170bhp) and a mk4 R32, I'm very new also to the world of forced induction so any tips on upgrades etc will be very welcomed.

Before I fit my bluefin I was considering either Revo or Custom Code as the  alternatives - any preferences guys?

Cheers

Lee

Welcome along - sounds like plans are affot for an early bout of modding  :happy2: With regards to the choice of map, there are plenty of threads on here (just have a quick seach). A lot depends on how far you will be wanting to take the car in the future. Anything over stag2 2 I would be going the Revo route, just my personal opinion.

Thanks Dom

TBH I want to keep the car relatively standard apart from the mods that I mentioned so probably wouldnt want to go above a stage 2. My previous cars' work was carried out at TSR performance ad they use Custom Code.

I suppose the good thing about bluefin is that its able to be reversed within 20 mins.

Celtic tuning do nice sounding package too

Well you pays your money and you take your choice - there will be plenty of people on here that can vouch for both Revo/Bluefin at a Stage 1/2 level of tune. I know that JoesGTI had celtictuning on his, though I would personally be keeping clear of Custom Code. Yes, the nice thing about bluefin is the total transparency with the handset, Shark performance also do something similar too. I think you just need to have a good trawl of existing threads on here and make a value judgement for youself, you will always hear good and bad things about the majority, if not all, products.

Thanks again Dom

I will trawl through the threads and make sure i choose the best route.

I am thinking celtic tuning as I would like a forge twintake induction kit and maybe an S3 or forge intercooler to go with it.

Awesome, I'll give them a buzz and have a chat with them.

Do you know what mapping software they use; Revo, Custom Code etc etc?

Had a lot of work done on my previous Golfs at TSR and they use Custom Code but have just started to use Revo aswell.

They used to use custom code, not sure if they still do though as I've not needed a car mapped for a long time. They have all the ramps and rollers etc

Hi and welcome.

That supaguard is a load of crap and usually poorly applied. Have a look in the detailing section.  :happy2:

Thought I'd post a couple of photo's up of my ED30 and my mates mk2 16v. The 2 black beauties were just taking a rest after a blast through the countryside. Please note that no sheep were harmed during our outing......

Cheers

I notice your car has had the Edition 30 badge put under the GTI badge on the front.

The previous keeper must of been a fellow MK5GolfGTi forumite, as the idea was given birth on this very site  :happy2:

Its been well looked after  :happy2:

He certainly was. This ED30 was his 2nd and he also had a lovely Porche C4.

Must admit that i'm loving the front badge so well done to whoever thought this idea up.

Anybody know where I can get ED30 seat adjuster inserts?

Oh, and still waiting on my plaque........unbelievable!
