Putting aside safety considerations... is there a way to stop the DVD play back screen going blank when driving?
I'd like the missus and kids to be able to watch DVDs whilst I'm driving....
-
bear in mind its illegal for the driver to be able to see the screen in the dash whilst driving.
but its just a question of earthing it, when you lift your handbrake the connection to earth is made and it will work, permanently earth it and it will stay on, easy job :happy2:

^^you sure that works on the RNS510  , as i thought the unit was more clever than that and needed a special loom (here http://kufatec.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5_10&products_id=382 ) to fool the car into letting you play stuff on the move
-
ah....i was thinking from an aftermarket point of view, could be different then, would have thought the principle was the same?
-
for the RNS i think it reads can bus signals regarding speed. you will need to buy the kufatec adaptor.
i can confirm this works very well, it will work during driving. i have only tested this on a private test track though. i guess it would work on the highway, but i havent tested it.

^^^ Doesn't it screw up the navi's ability to sense speed when no GPS signal is available???
-
not in my experience but i could be wrong. i have rarely lost gps.

235 Dollars!!!! :scared:
What's the world coming to? Is there somewhere I can source this for cheaper....?
-
Another thought...can't this be done thru VCDS?

Car electronics aren't cheap, there's generally a lot of work and testing gone into them, even (decent) aftermarket stuff. Kufatec does top stuff.

Just to make sure before I take the plunge... installing the Kufatec thingy doesn't cause any other problems to the existing functionality of the SATNAV etc...
