^ Known as 'Nose Art' and often seen on WW2 warplanes. It's a fine tradition and hopefully not one subjected to PC sexist crap!
Inspiration for this thread comes from my daughter who just emailed to say that she's studying pornography at university. My reply was why couldn't I have done that!? She's actually on an Art & Design Textile course and it goes.. Weave workshop > Separate module on design and visual culture: Write an illustrated essay > she has chosen the history of mens' magazines and hence soft-porn 1920's to 1960's. A nice subject which covers Playboy and Alberto Vargas illustrations. Perhaps my daughter takes after me more than I realised!

^ Vargas' illustrations were the finest of the era imo :notworthy:

I have a tattoo sleeve that is all American old school to tie in with a portrait tattoo of my Grandad taken during the war.
Have always loved this style, and when I extend the tattoo am looking to feature a couple of pin up/ nose cone work. :happy2:

....I'm not at all surprised to hear that and even thought to myself "I bet VC loves this artform too" while I was composing the topic. :happy2:

I love these pics - they're on the right side of titillation and don't spill over into unseemly.

Was thinking of putting some "nose art" on the sidecar of my bike. There's some beautiful galleries about of nose art from Allied aircraft during WW2. The Americans seemed to have the best by far (the USSR just had phrases like "VENGEANCE FROM COLLECTIVE FARM No 17!!"). I'll post some I found once I get home tonight.
