Anyone know what size fron ARB is on the ED30? 22m or 23mm?
ARB bushes are shot so I need to order new ones..
-
Im not sure you can order the bushes separate.
They fixed inside the ARB clamp on front and there is no way of getting them out without either cutting the clamp or destroying the bush. You would have to cut the clamp anyway to get the new bush in.
I'm pretty sure you need to order a completed front ARB which are about £90-100 from a dealer.
I'm talking OEM bars here as I'm assuming that's what your talking about.
-
Yea, I'm talking OEM..
So if the bush in the clamp has gone I would need to buy a whole new ARB
-
.
As far as I know the OEM Ed30 ARB's are the same as the K03 GTI's. But I don't remember the size offhand. I got some in my car's dark batcave.
-
ETKA seam to list both 22mm & 23mm....
Do you have any calipers (or even a open ended spanner will do the job :happy2:) to be able to measure, Robin?
-
^^^^
A mate of mine has proper digital calipers but how soon do you need to know?
-
If i get chance ill measure mine on the morrow
-
The OEM GTI ARB ist 23.6 mm in diameter and 3.5 mm thickness (hollow)
if I'm not wrong. I have written alle the ARB data in another thread.
A new one is about 100,-- . Or go for poly bushes instead.
But:
Are you sure the bushes being wornt out? The OEM ones are glued
onto the ARB, so just twisting, not rubbing on the bar, to make them
more reliable and last longer.
More trouble making: the sway bar links/rods !! They are about 30,-- .
-
im with vRSCarl. The brackets, bushes and ARB are one part. I know this as after i had the brackets 'cut' off the std ARB to fit my eibach ones, i couldnt buy any bushes for it. All they had part #'s for were the entire setup

Unfortunately mate yes you would.
The OEM front ARB is 23mm iirc and is a SOLID bar not hollow. If it is Hollow it must be made of lead as it was similar weight to the Eibach one  It's only the rear that is hollow.
I have just replaced my OEM bar after removing my Eibach ones. I had cut the clamp to get it off to place on the Eibach bar. I put the clamp back on the OEM bar and just welded the cut.
I didn't take any pics but the flat bottom part of the clamp you can cut to allow it to swivel round. The OEM bushes are in two pieces on the front and they are not glued to anything. They are just held in place by the clamp.
But they do not come as a seperate item. I checked when i originally did my Eibachs as i wanted to buy just the clamp.

....Do you want me to check mine out (buried in the batcave) and sell them to you? - They've only done a few thousand miles. They're OEM.

What type of car, Carl? My GTI has the hollow ARB like all German GTI Mk.V:
Some examples:
model / diameter front ( x thickness) / diameter rear (x thickness)
OEM:
A3 Ambition/S-Line: 22,5 x 3,5 / 20,7 x 2,8 both tube
Golf V GTI: 23,6 x 3,5 / 21,7 x 3,0 both tube
Golf V R32: 22,0 solid / 21,7 x 3,0 tube (4-motion)
Golf VI GTI: 23,6 x 3,5 / 21,7 x 3,0 PR-0BF or 21,7 x 3,6 PR-0BM (DCC?) both tube
Golf VI R: 22,0 solid / 21,7 x 3,6 tube (4-motion)
Scirocco R: 23,6 x 3,5 / 21,7 x 3,6 both tube
Touran 170 HP: 23,0 solid / 21,7 x 3,0 tube
Passat R36: 23,6 solid / 21,7 x 3,6 tube (4-motion)
Sharan 2011: 24.0 mm / 20.0 mm both solid
I never looked for the Octavia ones. Maybe it has a solid one front like Touran.
adjustable sport ARBs:
H&R 'regular': 26 / 22 mm both solid
Eibach AntiRoll: 26 / 23 mm both solid
KW clubsport: 26 / 23 mm both solid
H&R 'big boy': 28 / 24 mm both solid (heard that there is a 28 mm rear as well on special order)
H&R 4-motion: 25 / 25 mm both solid
Whiteline: 24 / 24 mm both solid
Neuspeed: 25 / 25 mm both solid
APR/Hotchkis: 27 / 27 mm tube (does anybody know thicknesses?)
KW CS are identical to Eibach, just painted yellow instead of dark red.
Conclusion:
If you want to replace the complete ARB go for an adjustable one or at least for the
OEM Sharan and change both front and rear.

Thanks guy's :happy2:
Its making a knocking/clunking on the off side front when I go over a bump. When the Mrs' old mk4 Gold did the same it was the ARB bushes (only cost about £13 to buy the bushes).
I need to get it up on the bro inlaws ramp and get a pry bar out to check where the noise is coming from..
Robin, that would be good if I do need one, thanks :happy2:
-
mine did that and it was the lower control arm mount no being tight enough after i took off the WALK.
-
Hmm, well I've not fitted anything to the suspension etc since I bought it last September..
I neet to get it up on the ramps...
-
Does anyone have a look in the British ETKA for the sizes of the UK-GTI?
-
Robin, that would be good if I do need one, thanks :happy2:
....Just give me a shout if you do and I'll visit my batcave. :happy2:
