Morning all,
My GTI has developed a rattle from the boot trim that has been driving me bonkers - I took it into VW Harrogate and they said the trim wasn't fitted correcty, so charged me £20 to refit. Problem solved for 1 day!
The rattle came back and has got progressively worse. Yesterday I decided to take the trim off (which took some doing!), and the rattle completely went.
I then put it back on and guess what, the rattle is back. I think it might be coming from where the plastic meets the rear window pillar, but can't be sure.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I buy a new boot trim and see if that cures it?

Some sticky backed foam tape to put between the panels that are rattling.
You could also try bending the clips slightly so there a tighter fit.

Thanks I'll give it a go!

I found the rattle - I got my neighour to drive my car with me in the boot. He didn't realise how good the brakes were and nearly put me through the windscreen
Anyway it was the reverse light reflective housing that was rattling. Took it apart and glued the plastic tabs inside. It seems to have cured it - fingers crossed!
