Title: JackG's Ed30
Post by: JackG on March 13, 2011, 10:26:58 pm
Hi guys, well here is my new car, black edition30 with 22k on the clock, I've owned it for about a week now and got some time this weekend to do some paint correction and removed all swirls and marks, I've done 3 coats of dodo supernatural and to be honest I really really rate this wax! Wasn't to sure weather it would be as good as my old swissvax (wich I lost a while ago!)
I love the car to bits, im driving really carefully and just loving the smooth drive really, loving the fuel consumption as it's not as bad as I thought it would be.
It's got all the extras, Highline, DSG with paddles, Lux pack, Xenons, Sunroof, and a few more bits that I don't really now as of yet! The first mod will be just get it revo mapped, but there going to need to do some good prices as I'm now skint  :sad1:
Then I'll start going stage 2+ and after that I may even take hoslet route but Im sure stage 2+ will do me fine!
Anyway here are some pics after a detail that I did today

Well done mate. A black ED30 is awesome when clean.

TBH I've not been a fan of Supernatural. IMO even collinite 476s is better. However, will give it another try this summer.

I thought the same at first but if you use 3 very thin layers and leave for about 25 mins then it really works as you can see, I do have some 476 And it's very good! I think now it's getting warmer the carnuba in the dodo comes alive and makes more of a "wet look"

Around 10 hours, spread out over Saturday and Sunday. Washed and dried it together, then whilst Jack machine polished it, I clayed and sealed the wheels., and cleaned up and polished the exhaust. Then we both Waxed it, and I cleaned the glass, and Jack did a few finishing touches.
Deffinatly a weekend well spent  :happy2:

Sorry for the massive delay!
The car has had a twintake fitted and PDT'S stage 1 map and it made 301.1 bhp  :jumpmove:
I've just fitted chrome switches
Headlight switch
Window switch
Mirror switch

Vast improvement and you don't really know how bad the old black ones actually looks  :signLOL:

Next is the blueflame exhaust......i love the power but i want some noise too
It's like being at the IMAX cinema with standard speakers  the noise of the TBE blueflame should help!
After the TBE will be some bilstein B12 and front and rear anti roll bars MAYBE some THS mounts too  :sad1: I'm little worried about the noise with these mounts tho.....I love how silent the car is inside and how little vibration you feel inside so I may wait untill I hear someone else's
I'll get some new pics up shortly

Diamond black pearl.

Surely for colour matching purposes, it'd have been better to just buy one and get it painted?

Anyway here are some pics after a detail that I did today

like!! :)

Spent some time up the unit last night, started fitting my THS cooler, fitted fuel pump internals and half way through the Rs4 valve, just waiting for my misting kit to come and I'll bolt it all back together!
Big thanks to my friend dale for his help tonight  :congrats:

On the road test the car instantly felt better, even tho it hasn't been mapped to the extra bits the car pulls better and feels smother
Just waiting a call from Paul at Revo to develope the stage 2+ file further now and then some real power

This is one of the main build threads, that I keep my eyes on and I must say that it's really impressive Jack! :happy2: You've taken the car a long way in such a short time. My reason for keeping an eye out is, I was going to buy this car but you beat me to it as you worked at the dealership that sold it.

Car looks lovely pal.

Welikeaps.

Thank you very much  :drinking:
Working for the company does have its perks I guess, can't wait for stage 2+ now and then some handling mods, I'm going to take part in the group buy for the walk and some
Carbon bits, then lots and lots of paint work ready for show season

Paint the centre strip gloss white with the "2.0 TFSI turbo" writing in gloss black and the main part of the engine cover gloss black

Carbon dip centre strip and leave main part of engine cover normal

Yeah I searched for photos of shadow blue R32's to give me an idea. Plus I would like an R32 rear on at some stage.

Little update....

New lights are here..will he fitted tomoz along with the other bits below

Tyres are now and WOW all I can say is those tyres make it feel like a different car, it's engineering in rubber form  :jumping: they just grip and grip! Anyone who says the golfs handling is pants I'd reccomend a set of toyo R1R's and you won't be disappointed! Far far better than my PS3's I had on previously

Tomoz it's having a minor service and the new lights wired up
Cambelt and water pump tomoz too
MOT tomoz and some new front OEM pads just untill Russ sells his R32 kit!
Will post pics of my new lights tomoz once fitted

Light wheels are a must mate IMO. The TD Pro Race 1.2's I had on mine not only suited the Ed30, save 5kgs per corner too..

Sorry for the delay  :ashamed: Got the new lights fitted, will clean the car later and get some pics up
I'm a bit stuck at the moment as I'm waiting to hear from revo about some new bolt on parts, I'm in two minds on weather to buy a nissan GTR or :sad1: hit the big 500 bhp with the golf  :sad1: golf will be far cheaper to run than a GTR and current climate it wouldn't be a great move! I was massively disappointed with the RS3 I tested so that's out of the question! 1M isn't my thing either, I'm hoping revo will bring me good news  :popcornsoda:

RS3 was far to quiet, power was progressive and smooth but didn't impress me, my eddie felt like a gti when I got back in it, wasn't entertaining to drive, not exciting, I was expecting good things and don't get me wrong it wasn't bad but for over 40K I would pick a standard eddie or S3 anyday, TTRS is still the one to have out of the RS range exclude the RS6 tho and the R8  :driver:

Yes I'm using the full power(not that much) and don't get be wrong a stage 2+ Eddie will put most cars in there place but I love the car to bits and want more than just bolt ons now for the odd 30/130 run

If your after outright performance I'd get a GTR. Can't compare a Golf to it IMO. To get to 500bhp it would cost quite a bit & couldn't make the most of the power. Don't think it would be that reliable either. If it was me tho tho I'd get an 1M and tune that if i felt the urge.

What he said ^^^  A BT Ed30 (compared to a S2+ ED30) would only be quicker once well into triple figures in real world driving. Big lag + FWD are never going to be fun IMO and by the time you do get traction you will be well over the national speed limit. Unless of course you run it on slicks permanently and it's bone dry..
TTRS would be my choice.. RS4 would be a step backwards in terms of performance unless you charge it and have DEEEEEEEEEEEEP pockets..

RS4 to me is a step forwards. Not as quick as GTR in stock form. Quicker than an 1M I'd imagine & will make the most of the power due to high levels of traction. Can't beat a high power, high revving motor. Especially a V8

You won't get any arguments from me on that one mate. Only problem with the RS4 is most aren't high powered and make well under their claimed figures..  :sad1:

RS4 is a nice car but I've seen stage 2+ eddies shock them, when you realise what we compare a 2+ Eddie too you realise what a great car it is  :sad1: outright running costs and reliability it's a great car, I'd be silly to buy a gtr in  this climate :rolleye: just for speed

I think I want the rns 510 with rear cam, what's peoples veiw on me swapping the kenwood unit for it? I know the rns doesn't have all the gadgets the kenwood does but as long as it's got nav  and blue tooth I'm happy, I also like how the radio stations come up on the dash  :stupid:
I'm stuck  :sad1:

Not sure of the exact name of the colour! Deep black pearl rings a bell! Need a new one anyway since the rear window got bricked  :fighting:
Why on earth would anyone brick your rear window?
Did you not send them something they paid for?
