Just noticed today on a 180ish miles run I got about 2-3mpg better than i have been doing on the same run at about 32mpg. Must be the weather warming up I suppose.

I noticed that I was getting better mpg today but thought it may be down to the new Milltek.....
-
32mpg now that would be a treat if only
-
I did a country run of 50 miles each way last thursday, chatting to a work collegue the whole way and just sitting with traffic (40-60mph) straight to 6th and never revving it and at the end of the journey I flicked the computer to see I'd averaged 42.4 mpg. 250bhp car and 42.4 mpg is incredible IMO
-
I have noticed an improvement but I have removed my HPFP!
Nearly 35mpg on the way back from UD on Sunday! :happy2:
-
Given the fact that I now have to commute a fair distance (for me) each day, I've become more relaxed in my driving. Average mpg is now creeping up past 30mpg.
-
bah, im lucky if i get 25mpg on my 8m journey to or from work! :(
i hate traffic!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I got 56mpg on my 12mile journey home from work today.
-
Did a constant 70mph with cruise for 40 miles, achieved 37mpg.
Did a constant 65mph with cruise for 40 miles on return journey, achieved 41mpg.

Close. 1.9 TDI Octy until mine is builded. She's a racer. Thinking of getting some private hire plates.

There's nothing faster than a 'courtesy' car! :driver:
-
You shouldnt be getting anywhere near 56mpg in a hire car.... even if it is a diesel!
-
Yeah! I've noticed a difference last few days, but then the car was serviced last Friday with air filter, oil etc so not sure if that's made the difference (even though I change air filter every 5k).
I don't remember the MPG being as bad when I bought the car last June, as it was over the winter, as im sure in the summer I used to get 32-35mpg on the drive to/from work (even saw 42mpg once in August driving home from a friends about 20 miles away) whereas in the Winter i'd never see 30mpg on that same journey (gentle driving too) So think the slightly warmer weather is definately making a big difference.

23-27mpg 8 mile commute.
It hurts. My gti was not built for such lacklustre journeys.
-
Only 26.9 measured over the last 1200 miles dash says 27.2 so it's reasonably accurate. 30-40% motorway and not driven that hard. I think it should be better

.............same for me. :sad1:
-
Why does warmer weather improve the MPG? Thanks
-
The air isnt as dense (ie its thinner, less moisture), plus the engine doesnt have to prewarm the intake air as much going into the manifold. :happy2:

Me too. 16 miles a day and I usually get sub 23MPG as i always end up stuck in traffic no matter which route i take!

Trust me there are some downsides.
-
Not in a GTi i take it lol
-
Would kill to just see 40mpg in my GTI, Best I ever got was 37.9, and that was boring driving in winter.
Need to see if I can get better mileage in really slow motorway summer driving.
-
Highest I have ever got was 34 in the ED30
-
get pulled by the rossers, that normally improoves your mpg after that :sad1:
Since Saturday night, mine has improoved drastically

That could be difficult for Al, unless he pulls himself while driving........

Some things are best kept quiet though rich. Perhaps Al has his options kept to himself :signLOL:

Borrowed my dad's polo bluemotion for work the other day, it is downhill most of the way but still wanted to see what i could get out of it on my 7 mile trip.
THE RESULT 114.9mpg
then on the way back 83.7mpg
not nice to drive tho.!!!

Here's mine from a trip a while back - M25, clear of traffic but all 50 zones

I commute 50 miles a day in the ED30 - 85% motorway, 15% A roads - get 28.2 average. You can get decent fuel economy from Stage 2+ but it is not what it's intended for/fun :happy2:
