Title: Sharkfin Question
Post by: Betty02 on March 15, 2011, 08:53:48 am
Ok really really tempted to do this as my next mod, and looks like the MK6 one is what I want, it's gloss black so thinking it could be on the one, but I have a few question I wouldn't mind anyone answering?

1) Will this bolt straight on replacing my old one?
2) I have retro-fitted an RNS310 with Nav - What cable to I get to run from the back of my HU to the sharkfin?
3) Removing the headlining - is this simple? Does it ALL need coming of?
4) Power - Can I use all the current power cables? Do I just need the nav cable as an additional.
5) Where can any parts/cables be bought from?
6) has anyone done any of the above? Any guides etc.
7) What will VW charge me for this?

If you can answer any of the above it would be greatly appreciated!

1 Yes
2 See ebay
3 Easy, no just the back part and the vanity light and a pillar if you want to connect it up properly.
4 Nothing addition needed
5 Ebay or ebay.de
6 Yes, including me.Search on here, vrs carl did a guide.
7 Lots

I just fitted the sharkfin for looks. I get good sat reception with the in dash gps receiver and I left my beesting under the headlining and get perfect radio reception.

I have a mk5 one at the moment but I have a mk6 from Dave B ready to go on  :happy2:

That reminds me daveb1970 did have the cable you need that he wanted rid of, PM him.

I've done mine although I had to drill the hole in the roof and I routed the cable down the C-pillar and along the cill to the front. If you do fit it for the GPS make sure the nut is tight so you don't get the open circuit fault
